Over the month of June, our state solar installations produced a total of 187 MWh of electricity, preventing 89 tons of CO2 from reaching the atmosphere, and saving Rhode Island taxpayers $37,221.63.

This amount of electricity could:
Cook 249,266 meals
Brew 7,789,558 cups of coffee
Power 6,447 homes for one day

The OER Lead by Example team, in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and the Fort Adams Trust, has completed an LED lighting upgrade at the historic Fort Adams State Park in Newport.

This LED lighting upgrade replaces a number of outdated lighting fixtures at the Park, improving the safety and appearance of the facility and saving energy. Additionally, these controllable fixtures have the ability to change colors and light up the Fort in exciting ways that will enhance events and festivals held on the property.

In our latest video, we show how Rhode Island is investing in cleaner, more efficient public buildings and advancing other important efforts, including OER’s Energy Storage Rebate Program. Through the Lead by Example program, state agencies, public schools, and municipalities are reducing emissions and lowering long-term energy costs.

Rhode Island is making it easier to charge electric vehicles.

The OER Lead by Example team, in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, has added three new Level 3 fast chargers at the Newport Park & Ride.

These chargers are now open to the public. They will help expand access to fast, reliable EV charging and support cleaner transportation across Rhode Island.

This is part of a larger effort by OER to increase EV charging access at state-owned facilities, with more fast chargers expected to be installed over the next 12 months.
