Tuesday was an exciting day for our Unaka High School students at the school’s College & Career Fair! Students had the opportunity to explore 20 different college and career pathways, learning more about the possibilities that await them after high school.

Our Online Academy students were also invited to join in on the experience, making it an even more meaningful opportunity for students across our school community.

A special thank you to Dominic Burleson for hosting this event as part of his Communities in Schools of Appalachian Highlands programming, and to Jenny Jones for capturing some great photos of students posing with what they hope to be when they grow up! 📸

What a wonderful opportunity to dream big, explore possibilities, and start thinking about the future!

Carter County Schools is incredibly grateful to Hazel Shipley and Jim Lewis for their incredible generosity and continued support of our students and families!

Hazel and Jim recently donated $15,000 to Central Elementary School. The funds will go directly toward supporting students and families through Thanksgiving food boxes, Christmas gifts, a community centered fall festival event, and new gym equipment for students to enjoy.

They also generously donated $5,000 to support Carter County students experiencing homelessness, helping ensure these students and families have access to food, supplies, and resources they need.

Hazel and Jim are local business owners who own The Tree Trimmers, Mountain Heritage Realty, and Grillyzz. Their generosity is making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families throughout our community.

Thank you, Hazel and Jim, for investing in our students!

⭐️ Carter County Student of the Week ⭐️

This week, we’re excited to celebrate Ainsley Cox, a 4th grader from Valley Forge Elementary! 🎉

Ainsley is constantly lending a helping hand for both students and staff. She continuously picks up trash left behind from others, helps younger students around the school, and is always caught doing the right thing! We are so proud of her and the kindness she pours out to others in our school!

A special thank you to our community partner, Northeast Community Credit Union, for sponsoring this weekly segment and helping us celebrate our outstanding students!
