ACTIVE POLICE INCIDENT

UPDATE- 12:05 PM: Shelter-in-place order has been lifted.

There is currently an active police incident in Newberry Township near the Conewago Inn on York Haven Rd. Police department is requesting anyone in the area to shelter in place and everyone else please avoid the area!

Rain is expected to begin after 8 AM and last throughout the day. It is expected to be heavy at times, potentially bringing over 2 inches! Minor or temporary roadway flooding in low lying areas is possible. We want to remind everyone to stay safe and avoid flood waters. In the event of flooded roadways DO NOT attempt to drive or walk through.

Newberry Township residents and business owners who experienced property damage from the recent storms are encouraged to complete the York County Damage Reporting Tool.

The information collected helps York County Emergency Management evaluate the severity of the storm and supports requests for potential state and federal disaster assistance.

Please report damage such as:

* Structural damage to homes or businesses
* Roof, siding, or foundation damage
* Flood or water damage
* Damaged utilities or appliances
* Private road, driveway, or bridge washouts
* Any other storm-related property damage

🚫 BURN BAN NOTICE – EFFECTIVE APRIL 15, 2026 🚫

Effective immediately, Newberry Township has enacted a 30-day burn ban due to dry weather conditions and the increased risk of fire spread.

During this burn ban, all outdoor burning is prohibited, except for cooking in grills or smoker grills as permitted by Township ordinance.

The burn ban will remain in effect through May 15, 2026, unless lifted earlier or extended.

Please use caution and help us protect the safety of our community.
