This Saturday! UO Libraries and the Soaring by the Sea Foundation invite you to a "Home Movie Day" special screening. 📽️ The program will highlight newly preserved color films created by Lt. Colonel William Henry "Heine" Fluhrer in 1944 and 1945, capturing extraordinary moments from the closing years of World War II. ✈️ Come watch original footage featuring early jet aircraft and a major aviation exhibition held beneath the Eiffel Tower.

If these types of questions intrigue you, consider joining our 📚 Data & Society Book Club for a hard look at "metric fixation" -- the dangerous belief that everything can (and should) be quantified.

We'll be reading and discussing Jerry Z. Muller’s "The Tyranny of Metrics" -- an unfiltered inquiry into the very real limits of data-driven decision making. From higher education to healthcare to corporate management, Muller argues that our obsession with performance indicators, dashboards, and standardized data is making our institutions worse.
