Did you know Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden is one of the oldest zoos in Indiana? Opening in June of 1928, it was originally free to the public. For generations now, it’s been a place where Evansville families made memories, school kids discovered wildlife, and conservation came to life. Mesker has grown from a small collection of animals into a landmark that still inspires curiosity and community pride nearly a century later.
