A career of service. A lifetime of connections.

Today, Lt. Bill Gadberry, F/Sgt. Tom Weber, and I had the privilege of sharing lunch with retired Indiana State Troopers whose careers included patrol, criminal investigations, and command staff. It was a great opportunity to hear stories, reflect on decades of service, and recognize the legacy they’ve left on the Indiana State Police.

One of the greatest things about the Indiana State Police is the variety of opportunities throughout your career. From road patrol to investigations, specialty units, and leadership, every path begins with the same commitment to serving the people of Indiana.

The badge may represent a career, but it’s the people, mentorship, and relationships you build that stay with you for a lifetime.

⚠️ Traffic Alert – Vanderburgh County ⚠️

Troopers have temporarily closed NB I-69 near the 15-mile marker in Vanderburgh County due to blown insulation scattered across the roadway, creating a hazardous driving condition.

Traffic is currently being diverted at the Boonville–New Harmony Road exit. Please avoid the area if possible, expect delays, and follow the directions of emergency personnel.

We appreciate your patience as crews work to safely clear the roadway and reopen the interstate.

🚍 School Is Back in Session 🚍

The 2026-2027 school year is underway across the Evansville District, and that means you’ll see more school buses, children walking to bus stops, and increased traffic in school zones.

Troopers will be conducting extra patrols throughout the school year with a focus on school zone safety and school bus stop arm violations.

Remember:

* When a school bus stops and has its red lights flashing with the stop arm extended, you must stop.
* On roads without a physical median or barrier, traffic in both directions must stop.
* On divided highways with a physical barrier or median, only traffic traveling in the same direction as the bus must stop.

Every stop arm violation puts children at risk. Students can be difficult to see and may unexpectedly cross the road after exiting the bus. Taking a few extra seconds to stop could save a life.

Slow down in school zones, eliminate distractions, and stay alert. Let’s work together to make this a safe school year for every student, bus driver, and family in southwest Indiana.

This week, the Indiana State Police Recruiting Team is at HomeGymCon in Louisville, one of the world’s largest home-gym expos. With more than 140 companies showcasing the latest in strength and fitness equipment, it’s a great place to connect with people who value discipline, hard work, and pushing themselves to improve.

While checking out Go Bro Athletics equipment and getting a few reps in, I was reminded that physical strength is only part of what it takes to become an Indiana State Trooper.

Yesterday, Trooper Blake Swan joined members of Warrick County FOP Lodge 148 for a special game with athletes from the Newburgh Buddy Ball League.

Newburgh Buddy Ball gives children and adults with special needs the opportunity to play baseball alongside volunteer buddies from the community. Every athlete gets the chance to hit, run the bases and enjoy the game.

Trooper Swan had a great time running the bases, helping the players and sharing plenty of smiles throughout the game. We appreciate the Warrick County FOP and everyone who helps make this program possible.
