The following are examples that the county considers to be unacceptable social media content and comments. Please note this list is not intended to be all-inclusive:

· Any content or comments that are off-topic;

· Spam or videos or links to other sites;

· Solicitations, advertisements, or endorsement of any financial, commercial, political candidate, political party, or non-governmental agency;

· Duplicate posts by the same author (the original post will be left intact assuming it meets the guidelines of acceptable comments or content).

· Repetitive posts copied and pasted by multiple users;

· Obscene materials;

· Advocation of illegal activity;

· Infringement on copyrights or trademarks.

· Confidential or non-public information, including, but not limited to email addresses, telephone numbers, mailing addresses, or any personally identifiable medical information or any confidential or non-public information that violates the legal rights of an individual. Social Media Statements, comments, views and/or opinions expressed on county social media sites are strictly those of their authors and do not, necessarily, represent the opinions or policies of Cumberland County Government, its agents, officers, or employees. Join us in congratulating Tim Baumgartner on his recent promotion to Director of our Soil and Water Conservation Division! 🎉

Following the retirement of former director David Williams, N.C. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler appointed Baumgartner due to his decades of experience in the field. Throughout his career, Tim has held various positions with the NCDA&CS and DEQ as well as private sector consulting, including as director of the Division of Mitigation Services, deputy director of operations for the Division of Mitigation Services, environmental senior scientist, environmental scientist and environmental supervisor. Last week the Cumberland Soil and Water District hosted a Floodwise Workshop, where landowners could learn about nature based strategies to help mitigate flooding! It was also noted that the Cumberland Soil and Water utilized Streamflow Rehabilitation Assistance Program and Emergency Watershed Protection Funding. This funding allowed the District to reduce woody debris in channels that can create blockages downstream! We are grateful for all that were in attendance! Special thanks to the NC Foundation for Soil and Water for providing the funding for the training!

Cumberland Soil and Water staff attended the applied Nutrient Management Training this week in Salisbury! Staff were able to develop plans based on real world scenarios that they were provided at the training.
