School is back in session!

The first few days back mean more buses on the road, more kids at crosswalks and a few extra cars trying to make it before the bell rings.

Help us keep everyone safe:

* Slow down in school zones and neighborhoods.
* Watch closely for kids walking and biking.
* Stop for school buses with flashing red lights and the stop arm out.
* Buckle up and put the phone away.
* Leave a little extra time for the morning commute.

Why We Train

This Week's Scenario: High-Angle Rescue

High-angle rescues are uncommon, but when they happen, they require precision, teamwork, and technical expertise.

In this training, our crews operated from a wall approximately 40 feet high, using ropes, specialized equipment, and mechanical advantage systems to safely lower a rescuer and raise a patient secured in a rescue basket. Every movement is practiced, communicated, and coordinated to ensure the safest possible outcome in a challenging environment.

That's why our firefighters and paramedics regularly train, practice patient care, and refine rescue techniques before they're ever needed.

We hope we never use these skills—but we're committed to being ready if we do.

It’s open!

Update: 5:27 pm.
The water is shut off. We need time to clean the debris out of the road and will open the highway shortly.

Thank you to American Water for their fast response. (Including the supervisor on his way home from work.)

There was a 12 inch main that failed.

Update. 5:15. Missouri American Water on the scene shutting the valves down.

Aug 6 4:55 pm. EB 1-44 is shut down. Be advised of the traffic delay/water feature in EB I 44 at Bowles Ave. There is a water main break. MODOT and Missouri American Water have been advised.

Forging the Future

A single day can spark a lifelong passion.

Fenton Firefighter Community Outreach's Forging the Future camp gives participants the opportunity to experience hands-on firefighting and EMS skills while learning about the many roles first responders play in serving their communities. From teamwork and problem-solving to patient care and rescue techniques, the day offers a glimpse into a career built on service.

One of the most rewarding parts of this program is seeing former participants continue their journey by becoming firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, or pursuing other careers in public safety.

To this year's participants—we can't wait to see where your journey leads. We look forward to watching you forge your own path into this incredible profession.

Why We Train

This Week's Scenario: High-Angle Rescue

High-angle rescues inside schools are rare, but they require specialized equipment, planning, and teamwork.

During this training at Rockwood Summit High School, our firefighters and paramedics practiced a high-angle rescue from the atrium catwalk. Training in the actual environment allows crews to refine rescue techniques while strengthening coordination with school staff.

A special thank you to the Rockwood Summit custodial and maintenance staff for their partnership. Their support is another reminder that community readiness is strongest when we prepare together.

That's why our firefighters and paramedics regularly train with community partners, practice patient care, and refine rescue techniques before they're ever needed.

Yesterday, Fenton Fire Protection District was proud to assist the Eureka Fire Protection District during an incident at St. Andrew's at Francis Place.

Our long-standing commitment to community partnerships and the strong relationships we've built with our neighboring fire districts helped ensure a coordinated response that kept residents safe.

Even with the summer heat, the response was filled with teamwork, compassion, and plenty of smiles. Seeing residents giving us a thumbs-up along the way was a great reminder of why those community connections matter.

Look at those helmets! ❤️

Today we met some great kids who rolled up on their bikes the right way—with their helmets on and safety in mind.

We've been partnering with the St. Louis County Police Fenton Precinct to recognize safe riders, encourage kids to get outside, and promote safe biking throughout our community.

We want young riders to enjoy the freedom of biking while staying safe. A helmet, good decisions, and the right equipment can make all the difference.

A quick reminder for families:
Many electric two-wheeled vehicles are often mistaken for e-bikes. An electric bike is not an e-bike if:
It doesn't have pedals.
The motor exceeds 750 watts.
The motor-assisted speed exceeds 28 mph.

Before purchasing an electric ride, take a few minutes to understand what you're buying. Make sure your child knows the rules of the road, wears a properly fitted helmet on every ride, and rides responsibly.

Ride smart. Ride safe.

A big thank you to Schnucks and everyone who donated through the Hydrate Our Heroes campaign!

Your generosity is already making a difference. This week, during a hot emergency response, Fenton firefighters and St. Louis County Police officers were able to stay hydrated thanks to the water donated by our community.

Every bottle helps keep first responders ready to serve when our community needs us most. Thank you for supporting those who are out there working together to keep Fenton safe!
