Information about the planned reunification drill scheduled for Friday, October 16.
A school reunification drill is a practice exercise designed to ensure that schools and parents can effectively communicate and reunite during an emergency situation.
What to Expect:
Notification: You will receive a notification, usually via phone call, email, or text message, informing you of the drill.
Designated Reunification Area: The school will designate a specific area where parents can pick up their children. This location will be clearly marked and communicated to you.
Identification: You will be asked to provide identification to verify your relationship with your child.
What to Do:
Stay Calm: It's important to remain calm and follow the school's instructions.
Locate the Reunification Area: Proceed to the designated area as quickly as possible, in an orderly manner.
Be Patient: There may be a wait, especially if the drill involves a large number of students.
Follow Instructions: Listen carefully to the instructions given by school staff and/or sheriff’s office.
Reunite with Your Child: Once you are allowed, proceed to the designated area to reunite with your child.
Tips:
Have a Plan: Discuss with your family what you will do in case of an emergency and where you will meet.
Practice Safety: Remind your child about safety procedures, such as following school staff instructions and staying with a trusted adult.
Emergency Contacts: Make sure that your emergency contact information is up to date at the school. You might need to have someone other than yourself to pick up your student. They cannot be released to someone that is not on your emergency contact list.
