When the Opera House has its grand opening on July 29, 2026, our donors’ names will be posted to recognize the founders & supporters of this project. We would love to have your name included! The base donation level starts at $5,000.00 & includes all donations made since the beginning of the project in 2020. The total gift can also include future pledges. So, if your cumulative gift is at $4,000, if you would like to pledge $500 a year for the next 2 years, your name would be included on the donor wall at the $5000 level. Of course, this opportunity exists for all higher levels of giving also. Call Amy Kaiser @419-852-2022 or Nancy Knapke @419-852-6110 to donate or make a pledge.
Don’t miss this opportunity to have you or your families’ name posted as one of those responsible for helping to preserve this treasure!! Thank you!

Today’s pictures are in honor of Memorial Day & the 997 soldiers & camp followers that lost their lives in 1791 on the banks of the Wabash River & in 1794 defending the newly built Fort Revovery. Every year these crosses are put up around the monument that holds the bones that were found on the battlefield after the wars. It is an impressive sight to see in person!!
Thank you to all our military for your service & God Bless America as we head to year 250!

I promised more pictures, so here are a few of the flats (scenery from the stage) that we have hung on our walls. These date back to 1883-84 & were purchased from a company in Chicago.. Sosman & Landis. When you think of them being over 140 yrs old & made out of canvas, glue & paint on a wooden frame, it’s amazing they still look as good as they do! Notice that one panel was hung with the back facing out, so you can see the signatures from various performers that were in our opera house. Every flat has signatures on the back!

Nice to see 100 years of dirt coming up off the balcony floor. The red stain has been there a lot longer then 6 years! We have not had red paint up there! While Sharon & I were being Cinderella, scrubbing the floor, Nick was busy hanging flats downstairs, Jill was meeting with a guy about stage curtains, Judy was meeting a guy about window curtains & we had a small impromptu tour! A busy day in the Morvilius Opera House!! More pictures of the progress in a couple days! Stay tuned!

Are you a fan of Rick Derringer or the McCoys? Would you happen to have a flyer or newspaper ad announcing that he would be performing at the Ft Recovery Jubilee a few years back? Our gallery will be devoting a section to the groups he was in…Ricky & Randy, Rick & the Raiders, and The McCoys. We have some very nice things to showcase thanks to Mike Thien, but if anyone else is willing to share from their memorabilia for our display, please contact Nancy at (419) 852-6110.
We are particularly looking for newspaper articles, promotions or flyers that might have been put up around town. Thanks in advance!

Busy day at Opera House! Mrs Tracy Evers-Westgerdes brought several classes of students to town to visit & tour today! They seemed to enjoy their time after learning about it in music class. They liked the balcony view also!!
Meanwhile, after 3 coats of paint on the wall, the first pieces of our gallery info was installed downstairs!! 💜💜💜

The stenciling project upstairs is officially complete! Now we have lots of small details to pull together! While priming the riser that the balcony chairs are on, it was noted that all the chair feet were rusty! Most likely from being mopped over in their former home. So, today was “feet painting day”. Well… you know how projects grow?? Yeah, the legs needed freshened, the spacer between the seats needed freshened, the seat brackets needed freshened….took a bit longer, but if was the right thing to do!! Next on that project is the final coat of dark paint on the riser! So, while freshening was happening upstairs, measurements were taken & some painting was done in the gallery in prep for the first pieces of our gallery to be installed!!! So exciting to see that happen after hours of planning & research!! Stay tuned!!
