In case you missed them…. Here is a quick look at the 20 Model A’s Fords that were in town today…13 from the Ft Wayne area & 7 from the Dayton area. Model A’s were built from 1928-1931, were 4 cylinder cars that could go 40 mph.
It was fun to tour their owners & family members thru our opera house. And they were kind & listened to my story, even after I was asked to tell them about my old cars & admitted up front that my late husband was a Chevy guy!

A special thank you to the Mercer County Civic Foundation for the grant which helped underwrite the cost of the tables and chairs purchased fot the Opera House. Good use was made of this furniture during the recent grand opening!We shall be proud to make this available to the folks who schedule parties, meetings, and all kinds of get-togethers in this
one-of-a kind venu in the future!

Kudos to the Opera House singers who practiced their songs the night before the grand opening! Beautiful voices in a beautiful venue! It just doesn’t get better than that! Thank you to the singers for giving up their evening and then performing before the program on Wednesday. So many positive comments were heard about how great they sounded. It was suggested that we have them back again! That’s a real compliment.

Our local friends & family may have noticed many strangers at the grand opening yesterday. It is such a neat family story, I had to share! That great group of folks on our stage came from Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Montana, Tennessee & Northern Ohio! Many of them met for the first time Tuesday or Wednesday.
Why did they all travel to Fort Recovery at the same time?? They are all Morvilius family!! And until we started our work on the opera house, they did not know there were so many of them!!! Such a neat added bonus to “our story” that we were able to help family be found!! Our professional photographer got a better picture I’m sure, but I couldn’t wait to share!!
And in the second picture is David, Lori, & Daughter Marlee Hobbs providing some entertainment before the 5 pm open house. Lori’s maiden name is Morvilius of course! Look for them back to provide more great entertainment in the near future. Lori also is a member of the Opera House Singers! They live in the Muncie area

The big day is finally here! 6 years ago a group of dedicated committee members sought out to restore the Fort Recovery Morvilius Opera House to its former glory with a hope and dream of making it a true community gathering space.

To say that this project took a village is an understatement. Many people from all over our community and in some cases…across the country…helped to make this project a reality with both their expertise, time, monetary and material donations, and their willingness to make sure we succeeded in our efforts. For that, we give our sincerest thank you.

Our committee over the years has also donated countless hours, time, money, expertise, blood, sweat, and yes even tears too…to get this multi-million dollar renovation to completion and we are excited and grateful to be able to share our vision with all of you today.

We hope that you can join us today from 5-7pm for our open house and we hope that your heart is moved by the beauty that echoes between these walls.💜
