The Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department sends our thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and fellow firefighters of Assistant Chief Wayne Woodbury of the Searsmont Fire Department.

Assistant Chief Woodbury passed away this morning as a result of injuries sustained during the tragic explosion at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont on May 15, 2026. Assistant Chief Woodbury had been receiving treatment at Maine Medical Center in Portland since the incident.

Rest In Peace Chief.

Videos sent from Homeowner who said I could share from this mornings call from The Meta "VR" Goggles exploding!! The night stand is about 14 feet from the stairs and stairs are about 15' long just to give you an idea how bad this was. The video in the Comments shows the Fire flash and a piece on Fire sent downstairs

Warning!!!
This was from a call we had earlier today!! It's an external battery for a Meta Quest 3 "VR Goggles" that was charging for just a short while!! It exploded on their night stand which started a fire and sent pieces across the room and down to the bottom of the stairs!! The homeowner was outside heard the explosion ran inside and put the Fire out!! Winterport Ambulance arrived on scene and did check out home owner for smoke inhalation. We contacted DEP and Fire Marshall's Office in which The Fire Marshall showed up today to investigate to see if there is going to be a problem with these!! DEP will be by to pick up the mask and batteries!! So please be aware when you have this kind of stuff plugged in PLEASE Very Lucky no one was wearing this!!

We can't express how Happy we are with Seth Reed and Crew from CMHT, inc. Fire Safety Services for Completing all of our Hose testing and Ladder testing today at Fernald Field Dragway in Winterport!! It was The First time we have hired it out and can't Thank them enough for a Job well done!! If any Fire Department needs Hose testing and Ladder testing done We highly recommend these guys!! We would also like to Give a Huge Thank you to Crystal Lancaster for allowing us to do this at Fernald Field today!! It made this whole process way easier!!

I can't Thank this guy Ryan Fields for coming by this morning to help me Install 30 some American Flags through Town!! His Dad used to help us every year until his passing!! We miss you Bruce and will Never forget you!! Thank you again Ryan for bringing the bucket truck down and helping me get these up before Memorial Day!!
