Measles is a highly contagious virus that can lead to serious health complication, especially for children.

The best protection against measles is the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine. The MMR vaccine is safe, highly effective, and provides long-lasting protection against measles. As part of the routine childhood immunization schedule, children receive the MMR vaccine before starting school, along with their other recommended childhood vaccinations.

Help protect yourself, your family, and those who are too young to be vaccinated by making sure everyone is up to date on their routine immunizations, including the MMR vaccine.

Get a head start this summer by making sure your child is up to date on required vaccines for the upcoming school year. All vaccines needed for school in California are covered by health insurance, including Medi-Cal.

No insurance? No problem. California’s Vaccines for Children (VFC) program provides free vaccines for eligible children under 18 at many clinics across the state. Availability can vary by clinic capacity or distance, so call ahead and book early.

Visit MyTurn.cdph.ca.gov to find a clinic near you.

Did you know that harmful chemicals from to***co smoke can stay behind even after the smoke is gone? This is called thirdhand smoke. It can build up on surfaces like furniture, walls, clothing, and in cars, continuing to affect your health over time. Children and families are especially at risk.

Keeping your home and spaces smoke-free and vape-free helps reduce exposure and protect your health. To learn more, visit Thirdhand Smoke Resource Center at https://thirdhandsmoke.org/
