Here with a bittersweet post, as some of you may know, at commencement, I announced that I will be resigning from the Garfield Heights Board of Education.  That night was incredibly special to me.  Not only because I have the honor of serving as President of the Board of Education, but because after six graduations and two decades of service, this was my first and final commencement speech. It officially closed a chapter that has shaped so much of who I am.
I first learned to advocate for students as a class officer. Later, I had the privilege of serving as a coach, mentor, educator, Board Member, and ultimately President of the Board of Education. Every role came with one purpose: making sure our students knew someone believed in them.
I’ve watched this district through many seasons—from sitting in the seats as a graduate myself, to presenting diplomas during a pandemic from a stage built in a parking lot, to celebrating another incredible class on May 28th. The students I once served are now parents, teachers, business owners, public servants, and community leaders. What a blessing it has been to witness!
To every student who trusted me, every family who supported me, every colleague who challenged me, and every resident who believed in my leadership—thank you!
As I prepare for new adventures, including becoming a wife and beginning a new season of life, I leave with a full heart, immense gratitude, and unwavering faith in the future of our students.  I am excited about the future of our district, we are creating leaders of the next century!  Our district leadership will continue to trailblaze and create a district that welcomes and elevates all students.  As I depart, my board position has been posted.  I encourage community members who are professional leaders that care about our students to apply!  The deadline is tomorrow, June 15th by 12PM.  Details can be found here: https://www.garfieldheightscityschools.com/article/2969972
