Today, members of the Georgetown Police Department were honored to participate in Georgetown’s Memorial Day ceremonies.

While the weather may have forced the cancellation of the parade, it did not stop our community from coming together indoors to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

We will never forget those who gave everything for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Today, May 15, is National Peace Officers Memorial Day, observed during National Police Week as we honor the brave men and women of law enforcement who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

Established in 1962 and proclaimed by President John F. Kennedy in 1963, Police Week serves as a time to recognize the dedication, courage, and commitment of law enforcement officers across the nation.

We remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty and thank all officers, past and present, who continue to protect and serve with honor each and every day.
