Soak in the sunny weather while it lasts this weekend!☀️

An Arctic low moves in Sunday night, bringing rain and a sharp temperature drop. By Monday morning, clearing skies could leave behind the season’s first dusting of snow across the high country. Precipitation across the lower elevations will remain as rain with temperatures remaining above freezing. While cooler air will likely stick around through Tuesday, remaining snow will melt by Wednesday as temperatures sharply rebound across the region.

Firefighters, what actually influences how much you drink on the job? Science to the Station is teaming up with the OSU Tactical Fitness and Nutrition Lab on a study about firefighter hydration, and your experience could help shape the future of firefighter health and performance.

Share the factors that affect your fluid intake and your ideas for the kinds of systems that could better support hydration. Your feedback helps build real world strategies for the fire service.

What's involved:
One online Zoom interview, about 30 minutes.

Actively working firefighters, 18 and older.

Chief 41 is back from the Tok Fire and we are ready to hand out more wildfire sprinklers on Saturday 1-3pm at the fire station!

Tok has a similar population size to Girdwood and like Girdwood was a few years ago, has no street addresses. In Tok we saw the same spirit of independence and community resilience as our valley. We hope that in a time of need we will be like Tok and mobilize neighbors to help neighbors like we have in past winter storms.

One way we can prepare to be resilient, is to have all of our single family homes sign up for one of the 2,000 free home wildfire sprinkler kits available for a limited time from the AFD Wildfire Division.

We are loving our new Engine 41!

A lot of new technology changes from our old 1999 Engine 41. So much quieter and the ride is smooth even on our dirt roads. We are looking forward to trying out the traction sanding!

With an ever increasing call volume, our fundraising efforts are more important every year. We are pumped for this year's 3d annual Fly Casting Competition to help to cover our costs to serve Cooper Landing and all the way to Turnagain Pass. This year, we are streamlining the competition and packing all of the fun into 4 hours without designated times for each age group. Come any time between high noon and 4 pm to test your fishing skills and walk away with a prize and bragging rights! Multiple entries are allowed as well this year, so stay all day or just drop in to support CLES for any amount of time. Two Brothers Roadhouse will be providing food for the event and local kids are planning to set up lemonade stands during the event. Fire trucks, games of giving and door prizes available throughout the event; we hope to see you there!
