The 2026 Fall Dumpster Clean Up will be available in Glen Dale on October 2nd and 3rd. Dumpsters will be at the city garage from 8 am to 2 pm both days.

In observance of Labor Day, city offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026. Monday garbage customers will be picked up on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

From the Glen Dale Water Department:

Beginning with this month’s bills, we will be returning to a tri-fold bill, similar to the format used in the past, rather than the postcard format. We are hopeful that the new bill format will help prevent some of the mailing issues we have experienced with the postcards. Thank you for your patience.

Milling will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Please do not park in affected areas.

The following areas will be milled tomorrow:
Washington Avenue – between 5th & 6th Streets
Intersection at 7th & Jefferson Avenue
Aprons on 8th Street
9th Street – Burley Avenue to Baltimore Avenue
A small area behind WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital going to St. Jude

The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Update: The phone lines at the city building are now working.

The City of Glen Dale phone lines are currently down due to a Frontier issue. If you need assistance, please call Marshall County Communications at 304-843-1500 and press "0" to reach dispatch.

From the Glen Dale Water Department:

Water bills were mailed on Friday, July 31, 2026. We have noticed many residents have not yet received them. If you do not receive your bill by August 12th, please contact the water office at 304-845-4740 to ask for the amount due. Bills are due by August 20, 2026.

Due to the current construction and the 8th Street Emergency Department entrance being shut down at WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital, there has been some traffic pattern issues.

The City, in conjunction with the hospital, has determined for the safety of all involved we will be making 9th Street going into the hospital ONE WAY.

The change in the traffic pattern will take place on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 8am. Please plan accordingly.

During a routine inspection it was found that the filtration system for the Glen Dale pool has developed a major malfunction. This malfunction is causing the chemicals to be at an unsafe level. Due to this failure and out of an abundance of caution, the Glen Dale Park and Recreation Board and the City of Glen Dale have made the unfortunate decision to shut down the pool for the rest of the season. We are very sorry for any inconvenience and will have this rectified by Memorial Day's grand opening next year.

The City of Benwood has graciously agreed to accept Glen Dale Pool passes for the remainder of the pool season. The City of Glen Dale and its Recreation Board, thank Benwood for helping us get through this unfortunate situation!

Due to today's weather forecast, the Glen Dale Pool will be closed today, Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Street Paving beginning July 14, 2026:

North Madison Avenue and Lilac Drive will be paved on Wednesday and Thursday, July 15th and 16th. They may begin some prep work today, July 14th.
