Indian Harbor Volunteer Fire Department has added Station 51 to better service Hood County. This addition will help reduce response times in their southern district and hopefully gain them new members close by to improve their coverage.

We are glad to see the the former Boat 40 continue serving Hood County at North Hood County VFD. The new Boat 20 fills a critical role and brings a capability to the north end of the lake that it didn’t already possess. We look forward to seeing this boat in service serving Hood County.

🚨 NEW CAPABILITY | BOAT 20 🚤🔥

North Hood County Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce the acquisition of our 2023 Rescue One 1673 X3 Fire Rescue Boat from DCBE-Acton VFD, which will soon be placed into service as Boat 20.

For some time, there has been a need for a dedicated fire and rescue boat capability on the north side of Lake Granbury and the Brazos River. With a significant portion of our response district bordering the lake, emergencies on or near the water present unique challenges where quick access and the right equipment can make a critical difference.

Boat 20 adds an entirely new capability to our department, allowing our firefighters to respond directly to incidents on the water, including water rescues, distressed or sinking vessels, fire emergencies, victim recovery operations, shoreline incidents, and other emergencies requiring access from the lake.

The boat is also equipped with bow mounted victim lift as well as a fire pump, giving our crews the ability to conduct firefighting operations from the water and provide an additional water supply option during incidents along the shoreline.

While it has arrived our members will be busy getting it in service with equipment, new graphics, and training on boat handling, launching and trailering, navigation, fire pump operations, water rescue, victim retrieval, crew safety, and emergency operations.

This acquisition represents more than another piece of equipment—it represents another tool to better serve the citizens and visitors of North Hood County and Lake Granbury.

We’re excited to bring this much-needed capability to the north side of the lake and look forward to sharing more as our crews complete training and Boat 20 officially enters service.

DCBE Acton VFD is proud to introduce our NEW Boat 40!

Boat 40 is a 2026 North River Freedom Boat, and we are excited to add this new resource to our department!

Last night, our members spent time training with Boat 40, learning its capabilities and getting familiar with everything this boat can do so we are prepared when our community needs us.

With the lake being such an important part of the area we serve, Boat 40 will help our members respond safely and effectively to emergencies on the water.

We’re excited to officially put Boat 40 into service and have another resource ready when the call comes!

APPARATUS UPDATE | HOOD COUNTY’S NEW PUMPERS ARE TAKING SHAPE!

Progress continues at the Pierce Manufacturing facility as Hood County’s five new 2,000-gallon Saber Pumpers move further down the production line!

Major components are now beginning to come together, with the cab, powertrain, water tank, pump, and apparatus body being married to the chassis. Also installation begins for emergency lighting and other components as the trucks move into the finish-out stages of production.

It’s exciting to see these apparatus go from bare chassis and individual components to looking more like fire trucks with each update.

These five pumpers will ultimately serve DCBE-Acton VFD, Indian Harbor Volunteer Fire Department, Lipan Volunteer Fire Department, Pecan Plantation EMS & VFD, and Tolar Volunteer Fire Department.

We are aware of smoke being reported across majority of Hood County.

At this time, the smoke is primarily the result of active fires in neighboring counties, including the . Hood County has also experienced a few isolated fires recently, but those incidents have been contained and extinguished by local fire departments.

🔥 There is currently no active wildfire incidents in Hood County as of 11:00am. Please remain tuned into Hood County Emergency Management and Everbridge notifications for any updates that concern public safety.

Our local departments remain vigilant and continue to monitor conditions closely. Firefighters throughout Hood County are prepared to respond should conditions change.

We ask residents to remain aware of their surroundings, avoid outdoor burning, and rely on official information from local fire and emergency management agencies rather than social media speculation.

SUPPORTING ONE OF OUR OWN

Palo Pinto County ESD No. 1 and Sacred Cross EMS are coming together to support one of our first responders following the unimaginable tragedy in Parker County Monday night.

For the past eight years, he has served with Sacred Cross EMS, dedicating himself to caring for others and providing emergency medical services to the communities we serve.

Now, it is our turn to take care of one of our own.

Since news of this tragedy became public, we have received an overwhelming outpouring of concern from our community, fellow first responders and public safety agencies asking how they can help.

Sacred Cross EMS and Palo Pinto County ESD No. 1 are working with local media to establish an official benevolent fund to support him as he navigates the difficult days and months ahead.

We will share verified donation information as soon as arrangements are finalized. Until then, we ask those wishing to contribute to please wait for information shared through our official channels.

Our priority remains surrounding our first responder with the support he needs while protecting his privacy. We respectfully ask our community and members of the media to continue honoring that privacy during this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, offered assistance and kept him in your thoughts and prayers.
