🎂 Celebrating America's Birthday... and Theirs Too - Birthday in a Bag

As part of Calhoun County 4-H Camp 2026, our campers hope to also participate in a second Hands to Larger Service project inspired by our United We Stand theme and America's 250th Birthday.

Campers will assemble Birthday in a Bag kits that will be donated through local food pantries and community support programs to help families celebrate birthdays, regardless of financial circumstances.

Each decorated gift bag may include:
🎂 Cake mix
🥤 A can of soda to make the cake
🧁 Frosting
🕯️ Birthday candles
🎈 Balloons
🎉 Streamers and decorations
🥳 Birthday hats

While these items may seem simple, they can make a tremendous difference for a child or family who otherwise may not be able to celebrate a special day.

A Small Thank You for Those Who Served - Veterans Comfort & Activity Packets ❤️🤍💙

One of the things that makes 4-H special is our commitment to Hands to Larger Service—using our talents and time to help others.

As part of our United We Stand camp theme celebrating America's 250th Birthday, Calhoun County 4-H campers hope to assemble Veterans Comfort & Activity Packets to be distributed to veterans receiving care in hospitals and long-term care facilities.

These packets are designed to provide comfort, entertainment, and a reminder that their service and sacrifice are appreciated.

Items may include:
🧩 Puzzle books and activity books
🃏 Playing cards and games
📓 Journals and writing supplies
🍬 Individually wrapped treats
🧴 Comfort items such as lip balm and tissues
⭐ Small patriotic and stress-relief items

💚 HELP SEND A KID TO 4-H CAMP 💚

Calhoun County 4-H Camp provides young people with opportunities to build confidence, develop leadership skills, make lifelong friends, and experience the outdoors in a safe and supportive environment.

This year, we have received requests for financial assistance from 12 youths who want to attend camp but need help covering the cost.

🏕️ The cost of camp is $150 per camper.

That registration fee helps cover:
✅ Lodging and meals for the week
✅ Educational classes and activities
✅ Recreation and evening programs
✅ Offsite activities
✅Their camp t-shirt
✅ A life-changing experience that many youth remember for years to come

Whether you sponsor an entire camper or contribute toward the scholarship fund, every dollar helps ensure that a young person has the opportunity to experience everything 4-H Camp has to offer.

Calhoun County 4-H Camp is now just TWO WEEKS away, and excitement is building!

All families with youth registered for Calhoun County 4-H Camp should have received an email TODAY from [email protected] containing important camp information, reminders, forms, packing information, schedules, and other details you'll need before arriving at camp.

🍀 Today we wrapped up the “This is 4-H” project with all 50+ 3rd & 4th grade students at Arnoldsburg Elementary!

Over four sessions, students:
🧠 Learned about Head
❤️ Explored Heart
👐 Practiced Hands
💪 Focused on Health

…all while learning the 4-H pledge and completing sections of their project books along the way.

To finish the project, students painted their State Fair exhibit — 4-H Clover mugs with The Guild out of Weston! 🎨☕ The mugs will now be fired in the kiln and returned during the last week of school.

Thank you to Mrs. Burch, Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Hopkins, and their aides for having us these last few months! Thank you, Mr. Johnson, for allowing us to use the cafeteria this afternoon!

Also - ⛺ Camp flyers were also sent home with all students today. Parents, message us with any questions!

Join us in the Mid-Ohio Valley for the 4-H Health Ambassador Training!

📍 Calhoun Middle/High School
🗓 Monday, March 16
⏰ 10:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Open to 4-H youth ages 13–18 (grades 7–12), this hands-on training will prepare you to lead substance misuse prevention programs using the National 4-H Council Health Rocks!® curriculum.

Lunch is provided, registration is required, and you’ll leave with the curriculum and supplies you need to start leading right away.

Build confidence, strengthen your public speaking skills, and make a real impact in your community — all while having fun. 💪
