The Shawnee Fire District would like to thank Rumpke for their generous $500 contribution toward the purchase of new HexArmor EXT Rescue extrication gloves.

With this funding, the district was able to place 9 pairs of high-quality extrication gloves into service for our firefighters. These gloves provide enhanced protection, grip, and dexterity during vehicle rescue and other technical rescue operations.

Investments like this directly improve firefighter safety and help ensure our crews have the tools they need to serve the community safely and effectively.

The Shawnee Fire District is proud to announce the addition of a FLIR K2 Thermal Imaging Camera to service on Ladder 80.

This important piece of equipment was made possible through a Butler Rural Electric Community Connection Grant in the amount of $1,000, along with a $50 contribution from the Gratis Firefighters Association.

Thermal imaging cameras assist firefighters with locating heat sources, identifying hidden fire extension, improving visibility in smoke conditions, and enhancing firefighter and civilian safety during emergency operations.

We would like to thank Butler Rural Electric and the Gratis Firefighters Association for their continued support of our district and our mission to serve the community.

Join us tonight and make the most of a washed-out evening. Grab your dauber, bring some friends, and settle in for a fun night with the community.

Dinner will be available—pulled pork, coleslaw, and baked beans—so come hungry.

May 4th signifies International Firefighters Day. Today, we recognize and honor the brave men and women of the fire service- those who answer the call, no matter the time, weather, or circumstances.

At Shawnee Fire District, our firefighters are more than first responders. They are your neighbors, your friends, your family members- ordinary people who step up to do extraordinary things when it matters most.

From structure fires to car accidents, training nights to community events, their commitment to protecting and serving our community never stops.

Today, we say thank you. Thank you for the sacrifices, the dedication, and the courage it takes to do this job.
