The Police and Fire Commission has selected Ray Fuiten to become Green Bay Metro’s next Fire Chief.

PFC President Rod Goldhahn stated, “The Commission is very excited to choose Ray as our next Fire Chief. He is well liked and respected across the Green Bay Metro Fire Department as well as the greater Northeast Wisconsin Region, regularly credited for his focus on teamwork, operational excellence, and long-term vision.”

Chief Fuiten is a 20-year veteran of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. His executive level experience includes the roles of Battalion Chief, Assistant Chief of Operations, and Interim Co -Chief of the Department. Chief Fuiten holds Associate Degrees in Fire Science and Sales/Marketing, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Department Management. He also holds multiple certifications from the National Fire Academy. Beyond Green Bay, Chief Fuiten is involved with several Fire Chief Associations, Fire Advisory Committees, and area youth wrestling groups.

“I am very pleased to welcome Ray Fuiten as the next Chief to lead the Green Bay Metro Fire Department,” said Mayor Eric Genrich. “I have worked closely with Ray since his appointment as Assistant Chief, and I am totally confident in his ability to lead the department with skill and integrity. I look forward to his leadership of Green Bay Metro Fire, and I congratulate him on his appointment.”

Chief Fuiten noted, “I am deeply honored and humbled to be selected by the Police and Fire Commission to serve as the next Fire Chief of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the Commission for their trust, confidence, and shared commitment to the safety of our communities. I look forward to leading the dedicated men and women of this department, whose unwavering service truly makes Green Bay Metro Fire Department one of the finest in the nation.”

Due to the Memorial Day holiday, the City of Green Bay will not collect garbage or recycling on Monday, May 25. All residential collection routes will operate one day later than usual for the remainder of the week: Monday's route will be collected Tuesday, Tuesday's on Wednesday, and so on through Saturday.

Residents are reminded to place carts at the curb by 6AM on their rescheduled pickup day. More information is available at https://www.greenbaywi.gov/724/Recycling-Trash.

CAN YOU ID? The Green Bay Police Department is investigating a hit and run that occurred in the parking lot of 1500 W Mason St on Monday, May 4, 2026. We are looking for assistance in identifying the persons in the photo. They were seen getting out of the vehicle in the photo.
