This past Saturday, members of Santa Rita Fire District and the Sahuarita Police Department met up at Sahuarita High School for a little friendly competition on the volleyball court!

Granted, we didn’t take home the trophy; we still had a great time with our friends at SPD.

SPD even coordinated with the Sahuarita Starfires Volleyball Club, so we had scorekeepers and referees, and we even got the chance to play a scrimmage against the Starfires!

A big thank you to SPD and the Sahuarita Starfires for a fun afternoon. We’re already looking forward to the rematch!

Last night’s storms brought some interesting calls for our crews, including a swift water rescue and a palm tree fire caused by a lightning strike.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in either incident. With more monsoon weather possible, here are a few important reminders:

Safety Reminders:
🌧️ Turn Around, Don't Drown.
⛈️ When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors.
🚗 Pull Aside, Stay Alive.

Be Alert. Be Prepared. Be Safe.

Santa Rita Fire District units responded to a single golf cart rollover on Camino Del Portillo at Camino Del Desierto. Santa Rita Fire District (SRFD), American Medical Response (AMR), and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSO) responded. Two patients were found on the scene; one self-extricated prior to the arrival of emergency crews, and the second was trapped underneath the golf cart on the side of an arroyo and had a prolonged and complicated extrication.

Patient complaints range from minor to serious injuries. Due to the instability of the vehicle and the location where the patient was pinned underneath on jagged rocks, crews had to stabilize and lift the vehicle off the patient while ensuring that the vehicle would not slide, injuring the patient even more.

All patients were evaluated and transported to the hospital. PCSO is investigating the incident.
