⛈️ Monsoon season is here!

Pima County has 13 sandbag stations throughout the county to help residents prepare for flooding and extreme weather.

Sahuarita: E. Dawson Road and S. Country Club Road
Green Valley: N. La Cañada Drive and W. Paseo del Chino (northeast corner)

Smoke in the area

Smoke is currently visible on the east side, and at times on the west side of the Santa Rita Mountains. The Coronado National Forest has been notified, and resources are being deployed to assess the situation. You may see smoke near the Mt. Wrightson Peak.

At this time, there is no immediate threat to the community. We will share additional information as it becomes available.

⚠️ WATCH OUT FOR EXTREME WEATHER! ⛈️🌬️

Active Weather with thunderstorms, gusty winds, blowing dust, and the potential for heavy rainfall.

Stay weather aware, avoid flooded roadways, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.

It is shaping up to be a relatively more active day today (compared to yesterday), with the best chance of thunderstorms from Tucson to Nogales and eastward, along with over the White Mountains. Gusty outflow winds and blowing dust are the primary threats today, with isolated heavy rainfall a secondary threat. Models are trending toward a later start of this activity: generally favoring the late afternoon and evening hours.

SRFD had an amazing opportunity to teach water and fire safety to the students in Continental School's Kinder Jumpstart program, which was space-themed!

Astronaut Yslas and Astronaut Dicochea embraced the mission and put a fun, creative spin on these important safety lessons.

UPDATE 1:12pm Rams Head Road is reopened, expect possible delays while Southwest Gas crews repair a gas line.

Crews currently on scene on Rams Head Road within the Quail Creek community in Green Valley. Crews are actively responding to an incident. Residents are advised to avoid the area.
