Some people are workhorses.
Others are show horses.
Workhorses carry the load, solve the problems and keep moving—even when no one is watching.
Show horses arrive when the cameras do. They polish the story, pose for the picture and take credit for work they didn’t do.
Real leadership isn’t about who gets the applause. It’s about who pulled the weight when the work was hard, unnoticed and unfinished.
A special tip of the hat to the dedicated volunteers working in our state coalitions. You may not always get the recognition—but your steady, behind-the-scenes work is what keeps this movement moving forward.
Pay attention to who is working—and who is merely performing.
