We are extremely grateful for the support from groups like this in our community—they truly make our work easier. We look forward to continuing this partnership and building on our shared success.

Meet our new Tree Warden for Groton, MA - Brian Callahan. Brian has worked for the DPW for many years and has replaced Tom Delaney as head of the DPW, which includes the job of Tree Warden. We are so happy to have him and to be assisting him with making sure that Groton has a leafy canopy lining its many streets.

Public safety is a team effort, and it’s what keeps our community strong. Proud to stand alongside GFD and be part of that commitment. 🚒

This has been a busy week for the Groton Fire Department. Once again we were stretched thin. The support of our mutual aid partners from Ayer Fire Department, Littleton Fire Department, Pepperell Fire Department, Dunstable Fire Rescue, Devens Fire Department, Lunenburg Fire Department, Shirley MA Fire Department, Harvard Fire-EMS, and MA State Dist. 6 DCR was critical in this weeks brush fire that extended to a seasonal residential cabin. We need to also show appreciation for the assistance received from Patriot Regional Emergency Communications, Groton MA Police Department, and Groton DPW.

Hello Groton!

It looks like we’re settling in for a big one. Our DPW crews are out and ready to keep the roads safe throughout the storm.

We ask for your help by following the No Parking Ban so our plows can clear the streets curb to curb. Your cooperation makes a big difference and helps us work safely and efficiently.

Please follow us for updates as the storm moves in.

Stay safe,
Groton DPW

Town of Groton is declaring a snow storm parking ban.

Effective at 3 PM on Sunday February 22, and continuing until 7 AM, Tuesday February 24, a Snow Storm Parking Ban will be in effect due to the predicted winter storm.

No on-street parking is allowed during a snow storm emergency parking ban. Vehicles parked on the street will be subject to fines and towing.

Do not push, plow, blow, or shovel snow from your driveway into the road. This decreases the effectiveness of our snow and ice removal operations and can create a public safety hazard.

Please email [email protected], with any questions or concerns.

Thank you

Winter is on the downhill from here — spring flowers will be here before we know it! 🌷🌼

Until then, please help out your DPW crews as we continue to manage snow, ice, and road conditions. Slow down, give plows plenty of space, and be mindful of changing conditions.

We appreciate your support — warmer days are on the way!

Hello Groton,

The Groton DPW is excited to share that we’ve added new technology to improve our weather response efforts. We have partnered with Frost Solutions to install several mini weather stations throughout town.

These stations provide real-time weather data from multiple locations, helping us better monitor conditions and respond more effectively. With Groton covering more than 33 square miles, this technology gives us a clearer picture of what’s happening across town during storms and changing weather.

Weather station locations:
• Townsend Road at Route 119
• Chicopee Row at Raddin Road
• Lowell Road at Old Dunstable Road

These tools will help us make more informed decisions regarding plowing, sanding, and salting operations to keep our roads safe.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].

A photo example of the stations is included below.

Good morning! The DPW crew is hard at work taking care of our roads this morning. Please slow down and drive safely while traveling through the area. Thank you, and good luck, Pats!

It was a big storm, and cleanup is still ongoing.
DPW crews will be heading in soon after a long stretch of work. Please continue to slow down—some roads still have snow-covered areas.

We will be back out tomorrow to continue cleanup after some well-deserved rest.

Thank you for your patience and support. ❄️🚜
