Boys varsity soccer opened their season with a 3-1 win over Penquis at Brewer High School on Friday night. After a slow start, Chase Lander made a nice header off a great Nathan Beckwith corner to put us up 1-0. However, Penquis evened the score before half off a well placed shot. While shutting out Penquis in the second half, Phoenix Brown added a goal off a rebound and Lander put another one in for good measure from a Finn Goulette assist. Abel Currier had a solid game in goal for us too. Good start to the season, but lots to work on!

For those parents who returned a form stating you were interested in counseling services for your student(s), I just wanted to give you an update. As many of you know, finding pediatric counselors in our area is VERY difficult. We were excited to have partnered with NL-Acadia late last spring and received an in-house counselor that served both schools. Expecting to have that service again, I sent out the interest forms. Unfortunately, that counselor did not return this year as expected, and our current contract with KVHC is full. I have a "waiting list" started for each school, in the hopes that we will receive word from someone, that counseling services are available once again. We do continue to have our Social Worker at the elementary school, and a stand-in Social Worker at the high school for the time being if something comes up. Thank you for understanding this situation.

Due to the incredible generosity of this community, we are happy to report that all 87 students who signed up for band will be receiving a quality instrument regardless of their families ability to purchase one. We would like to thank our anonymous donors and Lawson's Landscape Construction for making this possible. We look forward to many exciting concerts in the future and thank you all for supporting a robust music education program in our district!

The PCHS boys soccer game @ Penquis tomorrow will now be played at Heddericg Field in Brewer at 6pm. The boys will have a 4pm departure from the school.
