The Hadley Police Department consists of 16 full-time police officers; the Chief of Police, Lieutenant, three shift supervisors, a detective, K9 officer and ten patrol officers. The department also has 4 reserve officers, an animal control officer, as well as a full-time administrative assistant. The Hadley Police Dispatch is comprised of 4 full-time dispatchers, a dispatch supervisor and 6 part-t
ime dispatchers. The Town of Hadley has a population of approximately 5,000 residents, but the population dramatically swells due to the influx of shoppers to our many commercial areas and off-campus students from the five college area living in town. Hadley is the commercial heart of Hampshire County with hundreds of businesses that serve Hadley and the Five College Area. Located between Amherst and Northampton, Routes 9, 47 and 116 bring traffic to and through our community, and Interstate 91 feeds into Route 9 just over the bridge in Northampton bringing approximately 70,000 cars to town daily.
