💨☀️ As the school year came to a close, students in Mr. Gulling’s Watt Works Maymester course explored the mathematics and science behind some of today’s most popular forms of green energy. Students studied the anatomy of a wind turbine and put their engineering skills to the test by designing wind turbines capable of generating enough voltage to power a small LED bulb. 🩶
The winning group created a windmill that generated an impressive 3.76 volts - enough power to light two LED bulbs! Students also investigated solar energy and discovered how thermal energy from the sun can be harnessed using a solar oven to cook s’mores.
What a fun and engaging way for students to apply science, math, and problem-solving skills before the end of the school year!
