🎤 Student voices are helping shape the future of our district!

This year’s Student School Board Representatives attended their first board meeting, stepping into an important role as voices for their classmates - sharing what’s working, what could be better, and what students need to have the best possible experience in their schools.

From conversations with classmates to surveys, presentations, and updates at board meetings, these students are helping district leaders see school through a student perspective.

It’s a meaningful opportunity to lead, speak up, and make a difference - and we’re proud to see our students taking an active role in their school community!

Why did the Board of Education place a levy renewal on the November ballot?

A voter-approved operating levy expires in 2027. Without renewal, the district would face a growing gap between what it brings in and what it costs to run.

The Board decided to place a flat renewal on the November ballot - not a new levy, not an increase - so Edison can maintain its current level of programs and services.

👉 What this means:
The Board acted early and transparently - sharing the financial picture with the community while savings are still strong and options still exist. This is responsible planning in action.

🩺 From learning the technique to putting it into practice, Biomedical Science 4 students are getting a hands-on look at the skills used in the medical field!

Students began by learning how to tie square knots and perform sutures, then took those skills into live practice using materials with different textures and densities. Each new surface challenged them to adjust their technique, build precision, and think carefully about how these skills could translate to real-world patient care.

It’s the kind of learning that goes beyond the textbook - giving students the chance to practice, problem-solve, and build confidence through experience!

🌾 Some paths have a way of leading you right back home. For Tommi Marcino, agriculture has always been part of the story. She grew up on her family’s Richmond farm, spent 10 years in 4-H, and walked the halls of Edison High School before graduating in 2018.

Now, she’s walking those same halls in a whole new role - leading Edison’s FFA and Agricultural Education program!

After earning degrees in biology, education, and career-tech agriculture and spending several years teaching, Tommi is bringing that experience back to the community that helped shape her.

And she’s already looking ahead. From getting more students involved in FFA and expanding career development opportunities to making greater use of the greenhouse and raised beds, Tommi wants students to experience just how many doors agriculture can open.

For Tommi, coming back to Edison means helping the next generation find their own path, purpose, and place in agriculture!

🧠✨ Think. Create. Collaborate!

Our sixth-grade students put their creativity, communication, and problem-solving skills to the test with the Noodle & Marshmallow Challenge! 🍝☁️

Working in teams, students designed and built while practicing perseverance, teamwork, and a little engineering along the way. There was plenty of laughter, some creative designs, and lots of learning!

We love seeing our students learn by doing, creating, and working together! ❤️
