Department: Harpers Ferry Water Works

Position Title: Water Works Certified Field Technician

Salary Range: $20.85 - $27.20

General Position Description: Performs skilled and semi-skilled technical work to support the daily operations of the Water Works water distribution system. This includes the construction, maintenance, and repair of system components (water mains, service lines, valves, meters, hydrants, backflow preventers, fittings) to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of potable water across the Harpers Ferry Water Works (HFWW) service area. Performs related work as required and assigned. Reports to the Public Works Administrator.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in public water systems maintenance and repair.
• Valid driver’s license.
• West Virginia Bureau for Public Health Water Distribution System Operator or Public Water System Operator (Class I or above) certification in good standing.
• Experience in the construction, maintenance, plumbing, and pipe fitting trades is highly desirable.

Town of Harpers Ferry is seeking candidates for the Police Clerk Position with primary responsibility of carrying out office practices and procedures supporting the Town of Harpers Ferry and Police Department. Candidates with strong administrative skills, who work collaboratively, have a clean background that will allow handling of sensitive information, and are proficient in MS Office tools are encouraged to apply.

This is a 35 hour per week position with benefits.

Qualifications:

One more week of music for our Summer Concert Series at the Gazebo! We had great turnout the previous weeks and we're looking forward to 1 more week of music.

This Sunday, August 2nd, come and enjoy Melissa Wright and her band, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Bring a chair, picnic blanket, along with your best friends and family to enjoy an evening with your Harpers Ferry neighbors.

Rivers & Roots Productions and Harpers Ferry Parks and Recreation are happy to report that this Sunday, the Summer Concert Series at the Gazebo will resume!

Come join us for an evening of music and friendship. 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the gazebo park in Harpers Ferry. This week, featuring Kate McLeod. We will see you there!

In other great news, we were able to re-schedule the cancelled series from last week. Join us on Sunday, August 2nd for our make-up session.

Message from Harpers Ferry National Historical Park:

Under National Park Service permits, Amtrak contractors will be conducting geotechnical work in and around the Harpers Ferry train station parking lot this Thursday and next week.

On Thursday, July 23, 2026, third-party utility location markout will be conducted from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Only limited disruptions in the parking lot are expected. The train station itself will remain open.
From Monday through Thursday, July 27–30, 2026, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, Amtrak contractors will conduct geoprobe fieldwork in and around the train station parking lot. Portions of the parking lot will be closed off to allow safe use of equipment. Significant disruption to parking and circulation in the lot is expected. The train station itself will remain open.

Commuters and others who routinely park at the Harpes Ferry train station lot may want to consider alternative arrangements from July 27-30, 2026.

CANCELLATION ALERT! The Summer Concert Series at the Gazebo will be cancelled for tomorrow, Sunday, July 19th. This is out of an abundance of caution due to poor air quality.

We will resume the following Sunday, July 26th (weather permitting).
