On March 18, 1927 the first meeting to discuss the need for a Fire Department in the Harpers Ferry, WV area was held. In the same year Friendship Fire Company was organized and in January 1928 FFC became an incorporated fire company with the State of WV. Friendship provides Fire and Emergency Medical Services to the Towns of Harpers Ferry and Bolivar and the unincorporated areas of Millville, Hall
town, Bakerton, and Engle Switch. In addition to its primary response area, Friendship also provides mutual aid assistance for emergenices to other Fire and EMS agencies in Jefferson County, WV, Loudoun County, VA, and Washington and Frederick County, Md. Friendship's volunteer EMS staff is supplemented by career staff from the Jefferson County Emergency Service Agency. Friendship responds to approximately 650 Fire and EMS incidents each year. Friendship Fire Company is always accepting applications for new members. We welcome citizens of the community to join in several capacities.
