On Monday, June 1, at 11:00 a.m. Hartford Public Library (HPL) will cut the ribbon to the fully reopened Downtown Library! To allow staff to attend the celebration, we are opening all HPL locations at 1:00 p.m. The Downtown Library will be open following the ribbon-cutting.

The ArtWalk is back June 1! Please join us for the opening reception on Friday, June 5, at Hartford Public Library’s Downtown Library.

"... And My Heart Beats For You" by Traé Brooks is on display from June 1 to August 29, 2026.

The opening reception is free and open to the public.

Celebrate the reopening of Hartford Public Library’s Downtown Library with the first-ever R& B performance at our new HPL Hall, with live music from Ru Love Williams. Get here early for the free giveaways, first-come, first-served.

About Ru: Ru Love Williams is an R&B singer, songwriter, and recording artist based in Hartford, Connecticut. Known for his "real R&B" sound, his music blends soulful urban grooves with contemporary pop sensibilities.

All Hartford Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. Locations will reopen to the public on Tuesday, May 26, with regular operating hours.

Join the RSCO - Greater Hartford Regional School Choice Office at Hartford Public Library's Albany Library for a monthly welcoming support and play group for families with little children ages birth to five. Build a sense of community with other parents navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood.

While you're here, speak with the school choice coordinator about school choice options for PreK 3 and PreK 4.
