Join us tomorrow, Thursday, October 15 for a NASA Science Live event through Sci Starters and help identify image artifacts in space telescope data!

Your mission will be to correct mistakes made by the computers to teach the next generation of models to do a better job – and help teach humankind about the Universe we live in.

This event is open to all ages and no registration is required.

Join us TONIGHT at 6:30 pm for a 19-minute documentary, Finding Justice: The Untold Story of Women’s Fight for the Vote, followed by a Q&A with Amanda Owen, the filmmaker and executive director of the Justice Bell Foundation.

The Justice Bell is a one-ton bronze bell used by Pennsylvania suffragists to symbolize women’s exclusion from the vote and modeled after the Liberty Bell. It helped rally support in the last crucial years leading up to the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment and remains one of the most significant surviving artifacts of the suffrage era.

This program is made possible through a partnership between the Library and the Haverford Township Historical Society.

Looking for a cozy, fall-themed craft this evening? Join us in the MakerSpace for Pocket Libraries at 6:30 pm.

Create a tiny, cozy library tucked inside an Altoids tin! This fall edition features miniature books, autumnal details, and plenty of tiny-library charm. Perfect for book lovers, seasonal decorating, or gifting. All materials provided.

From October 4 through October 10, 2026, Haverford Township Free Library joins libraries, schools, bookstores, and readers nationwide to observe Banned Books Week. This year’s national theme is “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read."

Libraries provide safe, welcoming spaces where people of all ages can explore, discuss, and debate diverse perspectives and new ideas. HTFL's collection policies ensure that our collection both considers the literary merit of selected titles, but also reflects the rich diversity of experiences that define our community.

We invite you to celebrate the freedom to read with us this month by checking out our physical books and digital material in the library and on Libby and Hoopla.

Join the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Alpha Delta Mu Omega chapter, for this special afternoon presentation from advanced researchers in their Genealogy Squad THIS SUNDAY at 2:00 pm.

Though it is well-documented that many Black Americans find it difficult to break through the 1870 “brick wall” of census data and enslavement, these women have persisted and done so successfully. Come hear more about their remarkable discoveries and a few of their notable ancestors, and learn some tips and tricks of the trade to get you started on your own genealogical journey. Library staff will be on-hand to provide details on the genealogy resources available on-site for the public.

Reminder that tonight is the HTFL Writers Group at 7:00 pm!

Whether you write fiction, poetry, memoir, essays, or something that defies categories, the HTFL Writing Group offers a supportive community where you can share your work, get thoughtful feedback, and grow as a writer alongside others who love the craft.

Curious? Come try it out. Your first meeting is a no-pressure chance to see if the group is a good fit. Just come, listen, and get a feel for how we work. If you'd like, bring a short piece to read aloud and discuss with the group, but there's no obligation to share.

Several of our HTFL staff members traveled to Harrisburg this week to attend the 2026 Pennsylvania Library Association Conference for professional development.

Amanda Folwell, MakerSpace Manager and Library Trustee Scott Lowe presented the panel "From Construction to Community: Challenges and Opportunities in Library Renovations." Join us for a very special Monday Storytime on October 5 at 10:30 am with the Brookline Volunteer Fire Company - Station 35 to celebrate Fire Prevention Week. Firefighters from the station will be here to speak with the children and answer questions. Come with us to the Library's attached parking lot after storytime to take a turn spraying the fire hose from their truck.
