Founded in 1922, the Hawthorne Police Department continues to lead the way in modern policing. With programs ranging from the nationally acclaimed “Coffee with a Cop,” to currently being one of only two Police Departments in California to have a Service Dog 24/7 ("Scottie") the department has repeatedly set the bar with its innovative approaches to community policing. With nearly 100 officers and

50 support staff serving an ever growing community of over 85,000 (home of the Beach Boys, Northrop Corporation, and more recently SpaceX), the department maintains its technical edge by being the only department in the South Bay with its own Helicopter, Electric Motorcycles, Tactical Medicine Program, Armored Rescue Vehicle, and state of the art Police Facility.

☕️ Did you know Coffee with a Cop started right here in Hawthorne, California?

In 2011, the Hawthorne Police Department created Coffee with a Cop as a way to bring police officers and community members together for open, informal conversations one cup of coffee at a time. And now our wonderful community includes us, the local coffee farmers! 👩🏻‍🌾

We’re proud to be part of this Hawthorne tradition! Come enjoy a conversation with your local officers over a cup of coffee from our family farms in Guatemala. 🇬🇹☕️👮🏽‍♀️

Hawthorne started it. Now the world is having our special coffee with our wonderful police. ❤️
