The Iowa County Dairy breakfast is being held locally this year at Miller Time Farms. Please volunteer if you are able. Great opportunity for any students needing service hours! It’s always a great day!!

There’s an old saying about living in small towns: if you don’t know what you’re supposed to be doing, ask your neighbor, they’ll know😉😂😝

On this last day of EMS week, we are going to see how well you know your neighbors.

As you can see, our crew is a definite melting pot of backgrounds. We encourage all of you to consider volunteering in your community: if not EMS, there is always another group that needs helping hands. The rewards your heart reaps will be plentiful-guaranteed. A little trip down memory lane. Highland EMS first went into service in 1972. In order to honor all of those that have volunteered and served this community over the past 54 years, Bob Klar (unofficial EMS member who drove his wife Shirley to many of the calls she was responding to. He even got up in the middle of the night to drive her ❤️) created this display board that is proudly displayed in our meeting room. Each year, the list is updated as needed to recognize the years of service.

Take a look and see who you remember? who has ‘rescued’ you? Any stories to tell?

There’s a lot of volunteer hours on this board-meetings, education, call responses.

It’s also important to remember that the majority of these people do not have a medical background-just a desire to help. (This could be you.)

It’s EMS week! Giving a HUGE SHOUTOUT to our wonderful group here in Highland. We appreciate each and every one of you that make up our team.

We have many ‘seasoned’ professionals as well as a super group of newbies that are jumping right in every chance they get and always looking to add more to our group!

Highland EMS was started back in 1972 with 13 members taking the class. We have had many members since that time-your dedication and time volunteered for your community is a wonderful reminder that GREAT THINGS HAPPEN when we all work together for good of the community. ♥️

🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚴REMINDER: Tuesday, May 12 is Bike Safety Day at Highland Schools! Please make sure to send the kids with their bikes and helmet!

Please do a safety check with your kiddos tonight to make sure the bike will be safe to ride!

We will help fit helmets to make sure they are the correct size and fit properly

We can’t wait to see you all tomorrow!

SAND BAGGING has started.
Avoca Lake is forecasted to flood in the next 24-48 hours. The village has supplied sand and sand bags at the parking area for the boat launch on E. Lakeshore Dr.

Volunteers are needed to come and fill some sand bags while the weather is nicer today, so they are ready to be deployed over the next few days.

You do not need to ask permission, anyone can come and fill sand bags. If you feel your property will need sand bags, they will be available for residents at the boat launch.

Come help the community. It is better to be prepared, and many hands makes the work easier.
