Hildale City is pleased to recognize the swearing in of Megan LeBaron as Deputy Recorder.

Megan brings a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence to everything she does. Those who work alongside her consistently describe her as organized, knowledgeable, hardworking, and willing to tackle any challenge placed before her. Whether she already knows the answer or has to research and learn something new, Megan is determined to find a solution and get the job done.

In addition to her professional strengths, Megan is also the mother of a one year old daughter. She balances the responsibilities of family and work with remarkable dedication and grace, never missing a beat.

Before joining Hildale City, Megan spent thirteen years with her previous employer before losing her position due to a company merger and workforce reduction. After spending more than a year searching for new opportunities, she joined the city team at a time when her skills, experience, and positive attitude were greatly needed.

By accepting this appointment and taking the Oath of Office, Megan has demonstrated her willingness to serve the residents of Hildale and help uphold the responsibilities entrusted to her position.

The work of local government depends upon dedicated individuals who are willing to contribute their time, talents, and efforts in service to their community. These roles may often take place behind the scenes, but they play a vital role in maintaining the services, records, and operations that residents rely upon every day.

The Hildale City Council is proud to recognize Mardi Holm for her outstanding dedication to the youth and families of our community. For the past four years, Mardi has devoted countless volunteer hours to organizing and leading the HOOPS youth basketball program, creating opportunities for children to learn, grow, and connect through athletics.

Her commitment extends far beyond scheduling games and practices. She has worked tirelessly to recruit volunteer coaches and referees, build community involvement, and foster an environment where youth can develop confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

In addition to her leadership with HOOPS, Mardi has been a strong supporter of the Creek Valley Condors Mountain Biking program and, through her work at Creek Valley Health Care Clinic, continually promotes health, wellness, and positive opportunities for young people.

Mardi’s love for our youth, her passion for community, and her selfless service exemplify the spirit of volunteerism that makes Hildale and our communities a stronger and more connected place.

The role of Deputy Treasurer carries significant responsibility. It requires integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to public service. Working alongside Treasurer Bistline, Lisa has spent time learning the duties and responsibilities of the position and has prepared herself to carry out those responsibilities on behalf of the residents of Hildale.

Operating a local business is no small task. It requires perseverance, sacrifice, and a willingness to continue serving even through changing times and economic challenges. Local businesses do more than provide services. They create jobs, strengthen communities, and contribute to the quality of life we all enjoy.

Council Member Dutson expressed appreciation for Ticker Automotive's continued service and recognized the challenges that come with sustaining a local business. Hildale City is honored to recognize those who have dedicated their time and service to strengthening our community.

Today we recognize Council Member Brigham Holm and express our gratitude for his years of service to Hildale City.

Tonight, I want to take a moment on behalf of this Council to recognize and thank Council Member Brigham Holm, whose term is coming to an end after four years of dedicated service to Hildale City.

Brigham came to the City Council uniquely prepared. He served three and a half years on our Planning and Zoning Commission, including time as Chairman during a critical period of rebuilding and growth for our city. What made Brigham invaluable to this Council was how he truly retained and understood that knowledge from his Planning and Zoning experience. Whenever complex land use questions came up, we could count on Brigham to draw on that foundation and help us make informed decisions. That institutional knowledge and ability to bridge planning with policy has been a tremendous asset to our city.

But what stands out most about Brigham is how he listens. He truly listened to people, to residents, to his fellow council members, and to the community's needs. And then he acted on what he heard. The disc golf course at Cottonwood Park is a perfect example of who Brigham is: he saw a need, found his own sponsors and funding, and made it happen. And He's doing it all again for the course at Maxwell Park. He's self-sufficient in the best possible way. He doesn't wait for someone else to solve a problem. He rolls up his sleeves and gets it done.

Beyond council meetings, Brigham has been a constant presence at community events, from Fourth of July celebrations to chili cook-offs to Trunk or Treat. He's shown up, put in the work, and made our community stronger. And he's done all of this while running his own business and raising three children with the support of his wife Megan, who has stood behind him throughout his years of service.

While Brigham's time on the Council is ending, we know he'll continue to step up wherever he sees a need in our community. That's just who he is.

Brigham, on behalf of this entire Council, we want you to know how grateful we are for the care and compassion you've contributed to Hildale. We're going to miss you. No one will fill your shoes quite like you. Thank you for your service, your wisdom, and your heart for this community.

Hildale City is honored to recognize community members whose service helps strengthen the place we call home.

Today we recognize Travis Jessop for his contributions to our community and for the countless ways he helps bring people together.

Strong communities are built when individuals step forward with a willingness to contribute, participate, and help create spaces where people feel they belong.

Travis Jessop, through his work with Pride Excavating, has become one of the consistent supports of the events and activities that help bring our community together. Beyond his professional role in the community, Travis has shown up time and again in support of local events and community efforts.

Whether it's helping support the 4th of July Celebration, the Fly-In, Concerts in the Park, or other community gatherings, his willingness to participate and contribute helps bring people together in meaningful ways.

Creating a true sense of belonging does not happen by accident. It happens when people care enough to contribute their time, energy, and support in ways that help others feel welcome and connected. Travis has been an important part of that effort, helping strengthen the events and traditions that create the feeling of “Welcome Home.”

It takes all of us working together to build the kind of community we are proud to be part of. Today we recognize Travis Jessop for the role he has played in helping strengthen our community and in restoring that sense of belonging that has long been part of Hildale’s heritage. A place where neighbors pull together, support one another, and take pride in the place we call “Home!”

Property Tax Discussion: Wednesday, May 6 Council Meeting

We've been hearing from a lot of you about the proposed property tax discussion, and we want to make sure everyone has the right information before the May 6th meeting.

A new Utah law that took effect this year requires every city, in the public meeting when the tentative budget is first presented, to state if it includes a proposed tax rate increase. May 6th is that meeting for Hildale. No decision is being made on that day. We want people to come and give input. The agenda includes a public comment opportunity where residents can share what they're thinking about the proposed increase.

There will also be an additional formal hearing as part of the Truth in Taxation process at a later meeting, and we'll send the date out as soon as it's set.

A quick note on the numbers, because there's been some confusion. Hildale is proposing a change to its portion of the property tax rate. The actual estimated increase to Hildale's portion on a primary residence valued at $450,000 is about $467 per year. Full details will be in the meeting packet.
