Strong communities are built when people are willing to step forward, give their time, share their talents, and work together to create something that brings people together.
The Hildale City Council is proud to recognize the SC Festivities Board Members, Team Leads, and Volunteers for their dedication, service, and continued commitment to creating opportunities for our communities to gather, celebrate, and strengthen the relationships that connect us.
SC Festivities began in 2015 with a simple but important purpose: to bring the community together again. After 13 years without a community wide celebration, a group of volunteers came together to organize a Fourth of July celebration. What began with hopes that a few hundred people might attend brought thousands of people together and helped begin a tradition that has continued to grow for more than a decade.
Today, SC Festivities brings together thousands of residents, families, visitors, businesses, organizations, and volunteers from Hildale, Colorado City, Centennial Park, and the surrounding area. From the parade and community breakfast to activities, entertainment, vendors, watermelon, fireworks, and everything in between, the celebration has become a tradition that many families look forward to year after year.
What the community sees on the Fourth of July represents only a small part of what it takes to make it happen.
Behind the celebration are board members who spend months planning and preparing, team leads who accept responsibility for individual areas, and volunteers who step forward wherever they are needed. They cook, organize, set up, clean up, direct traffic, coordinate activities, move equipment, solve problems, and give countless hours of their time so thousands of others can simply come and enjoy the day.
Many of those acts of service happen quietly. There are no spotlights and often very little recognition. Yet every person who gives an hour, accepts an assignment, carries a table, serves a meal, cleans up afterward, or simply asks, “Where do you need me?” becomes part of something much larger.
SC Festivities is more than a celebration. It creates a space where neighbors reconnect, families make memories, friendships are strengthened, and people with different experiences and backgrounds can stand together and remember what we share.
It takes all of us working together to build the kind of community we are proud to call home. Today we recognize the SC Festivities Board Members, Team Leads, and Volunteers for the countless hours, willing hands, and generous hearts they have given in service to our communities.
Thank you for carrying this tradition forward, for creating memories that will last for generations, and for continuing to remind us what can happen when a community chooses to come together.
