Civil Defense msg: 08-01-2026 06:11 PM NWS has extended the Wind Advisory for N and S Kohala, Hamakua, Kau, and Hawaii Island Interior to Sunday morning. Sustained winds of 25 to 35 MPH and gusts up to 50 MPH are forecast. Those in the advisory area take action to minimize high wind damage. Motorists, drive with caution and be aware of possible roadway debris, downed trees, and utility lines. Pls stay clear of downed utility lines and report all hazards to authorities.

CDmsg: USGS HVO reports Kilauea Volcano Eruption Episode 52, which began yesterday (07-28-2026 7:10 PM) at the summit has ended. Gases and tephra primarily remained within the National Park. If you experienced tephra downwind in your area, pls minimize exposure.

Civil Defense message: 07-28-2026 08:30 PM: USGS HVO reports Episode 52 of the ongoing eruption at the summit of Kilauea Volcano began at 7:10 PM. Lava is limited to the summit. Wind forecast suggests most gases and tephra fall should remain within the National Park. However, resident downwind closest to the vent could experience tephra as far away as Pahala. If you are downwind, please limit your exposure by staying indoors and close windows, as needed. If you are on water catchment and are downwind, disconnect your tank to avoid contamination.

Civil Defense msg: 07-28-2026 10:24 AM NWS reports as of 5 AM HST, Tropical Storm Fausto was 265 miles NE of Hawaii Island, moving west, with sustained winds of 60 MPH. High Surf Warning remains in effect for east facing shores of Hawaii Island thru Wednesday. Large breaking surf, significant shore break, and dangerous currents can cause injury or death. Parks & Recreation reports beach parks in Keaukaha in Hilo from Onekahakaha to King's Landing remain closed today, due to dangerous surf conditions. Civil Defense msg: 07-27-2026 10:28 AM Fausto to pass north of Hawaii Island Wednesday. High Surf Warning issued for east facing shores thru Wednesday. Along east facing shores, be prepared for possible impact. Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all instructions by Ocean Safety. When in doubt, don't go out. Wind and rain, be prepared for possible isolated impacts.
