WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS / IMPACTS

Showers and thunderstorms will occur ahead of a weakening cold front today into this evening.
Some of the storms may contain damaging winds, mainly in southeast Kentucky.
Localized heavy rainfall where storms are most persistent could lead to isolated flash flooding, mainly in southeast Kentucky.

The answer is easier than you might think. Displaying your 911 address clearly, identifying a unique landmark near your residence, and leaving an outdoor light on at night can make a tremendous difference when every second counts.
These simple steps can help emergency personnel and utility crews locate your home more quickly, allowing them to provide assistance when you need it most.
A special thank you to the Kentucky State Police, Knott County Sheriff’s Office, Perry County Ambulance Service, Ball Creek Fire Department, Thacker & Grigsby Communications, and Kentucky Power for their assistance and partnership today. Working together, we can make our communities safer for everyone.

🔥 Burn Ban Update for Knott County 🔥

Today at 6:00 PM, the Knott County Burn Ban will be officially lifted. Residents may burn between the hours of 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Please continue to use good judgment—if conditions become dry again or winds pick up, we strongly encourage you to hold off on burning during those times.

We also want to recognize and thank our Fire Departments for their nonstop efforts throughout fire season. Their hard work and dedication have helped protect lives, property, and our community as a whole.
