It was an honor to meet with the Navy League of Greater Chattanooga today to thank them for their service. Most of the County Delegation was there for a panel discussion about accomplishments in the 114th General Assembly.

One of the great things about Tennessee is how much we value our veterans. We adopted the moniker “volunteer state” because our ancestors volunteered in overwhelming numbers to keep our country free.

Good News in Hixson today as we broke ground for the new elementary school that will partner with its neighbor, the North River YMCA. It will be open in 2 years. This school will combine my Alma Mater, Alpine Crest, with DuPont and Rivermont schools. The size of the school and all the amenities are not what make a school appealing. It is the engagement of parents, teachers, staff and students. This new school will be something our community will be proud of in the coming years.

I was honored when Ridgedale Baptist Church’s Pastor Doug Plumlee asked me to come celebrate the ribbon cutting for their new ministry to help children who come in & out of foster care. The Haven House ministry will help many needy boys and girls that have emotional pain I’ve never experienced.

I am thankful for churches like this that want to be known for ministry in the kingdom of God. A church can only be known for 1 or 2 things by those that never darken its doors. What is the church near you known for?

A Big THANK YOU to the 8,821 citizens that voted for me yesterday in the Republican Primary to continue to serve District 26 in the Tennessee State House. I will always put the people of our community above the special interest groups that don't live here. Kitchen Table issues like Public Safety, Education, Low Taxes, and High Pay Jobs will be my focus as we now begin the campaign for the General Election in November.
