This week, Harris County’s Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) budget hearings continued, providing department leaders an opportunity to share budget priorities, discuss operational impacts, and highlight resource needs as the County works through the budget process.
OCA’s Office of Sustainability celebrated 713 Day weekend with the Houston Zoo, engaging residents in initiatives such as the Climate Justice Plan, zines, composting, electronics recycling, and the Harris County Flood Control District resilience efforts. The team also participated in the Mayor’s Ready Roundtable at the Houston Emergency Center and partnered with Harris County Universal Services on a waste audit at the Vehicle Maintenance Center to identify opportunities to improve waste reduction across county operations.
County Administrator Erica Lee Carter and other Harris County leaders joined county officials from across the nation at the NACo Annual Conference. The annual gathering brings together elected and appointed officials from the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes, and boroughs to share best practices, discuss policy priorities, and collaborate on solutions that strengthen county government.
