Against the odds, the Northline Tankers showed what true heart looks like.
Entering the American Legion State Tournament with only 9 players, these young men never made excuses—they simply competed.
In Game 1, under blistering Texas heat, the Tankers battled into extra innings before falling to a talented El Paso team, 9-8. They left everything they had on the field.
Game 2 tested them even more. Running on grit and determination, they battled through a complete game against Greenville, refusing to quit until the final out.
Led by 2nd Vice Commander and Army Veteran Matt Cook, this team demonstrated leadership, respect, discipline, and resilience every step of the way.
We’re incredibly proud to say that despite being the only team with just 9 players, the Northline Tankers were the only team in the tournament that was not run-ruled. That says everything about the character of these young men.
The scoreboard doesn’t always define success. Sometimes success is measured by the fight you show, the teammates you stand beside, and the pride you carry while wearing the uniform.
