I recently had the honor of speaking on an AI panel at the Texas Women Rainmakers 2026 Conference - and only the 2nd male speaker to do so in the 11 year history of the conference! This past Monday was a significant day for my family.

I was honored to attend the Change of Command ceremony for the United States Navy’s Carrier Strike Group 2, on board the USS Eisenhower, in which my brother assumed command.

A change of command ceremony is not entirely new to me; I grew up attending several as my dad, a Naval aviator like my brother, had his own change of command ceremonies during his time in the Navy.

Last week, Chief Justice Blacklock reminded us that lawyers and judges serve as custodians of constitutional traditions. We cannot forget that our armed forces protect that very Constitution and the ideals of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I am so very proud of you, Scott and Dad, and thankful to all who serve and have served our country.

Honored to be asked to preside over the final round of the South Texas Mock Trial Competition. Everyone did such an amazing job! Congratulations to the winning team from the University of Georgia and the finalists from Mercer University. And to the team at South Texas for running a great program.
