Houston’s companion animals face serious challenges, including homelessness, overpopulation, neglect, and cruelty. These issues affect not only animals and shelters, but also the safety, health, and overall well-being of our community.

Houston PetSet is working to address this crisis at its source by advancing humane, scalable solutions that prevent suffering and strengthen public safety. Through advocacy, research, community services, strategic partnerships, and support for frontline animal-welfare organizations, Houston PetSet helps elevate the needs of homeless and abused animals and encourages lasting, system-wide change.

Creating a safer and more compassionate Houston requires collaboration among residents, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and public leaders. By supporting responsible pet ownership, spay-and-neuter initiatives, adoption, cruelty prevention, and stronger animal-welfare policies, each of us can help build a future in which every companion animal is valued and protected.

September 11, 2001–September 11, 2026
Twenty-five years later, we remember September 11, 2001—the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage shown in the face of senseless tragedy.

We honor everyone who died that day and the many people who lost their lives in the years that followed, including first responders, service members, and others who carried the lasting costs of that day.

September 11 changed us as Americans. It reminded us of the importance of compassion, courage, service, and standing together. Today, we remember, we mourn, and we honor their lives by choosing kindness and unity.

We will never forget.
