Roman Forest Blvd going East is closed at Redbud. Eastbound traffic is being diverted to Redbud, then to North Colosseum CT to Forest View to Constantine to Republic and then back to Roman Forest Blvd. Westbound traffic is being switched over to Eastbound side.

Tropical Storm Edouard update:

Myself and additional staff have been waiting for this Tropical Storm like it’s a guest who said they’d arrive at 5… and it’s now 10:30. I’m gonna get some rest at home until Edouard finally decides to show up.

Our on‑call officers are ready to respond if necessary. As of now, we’ll continue normal operations until the weather decides to make up it’s mind. If it does get dramatic, we’ll shift into emergency operations faster than Edouard can spin.

Tropical Storm Edouard – Local Update

Tropical Storm Edouard is expected to make landfall soon near the Texas–Louisiana border. Rain bands associated with the storm are anticipated to reach our area within the next couple of hours. While Roman Forest is just outside the Tropical Storm Warning, we remain under a Flood Warning for flash flooding. The current forecast track brings the center of Edouard toward us within the cone of uncertainty.

Preparedness Measures

The Roman Forest Police Department and City crews are fully prepared for the incoming tropical weather. Additional personnel have been scheduled as a precaution, and recent improvements to roadside ditches will help manage runoff. An additional outfall ditch on Roman Forest Blvd near Galaxy Blvd is also now in service.

County Emergency Operations

Montgomery County Emergency Management will activate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at Level 2 beginning at 1:00 p.m. today. The EOC will remain activated until threats associated with Tropical Storm Edouard have passed.

Rainfall

Heavy rainfall is possible, with 3–5 inches expected across the area. While the system will bring much‑needed precipitation, flash flooding remains a concern.

Wind

At this time, significant winds are not expected for Montgomery County.

Flood Watch

A Flood Watch is in effect from 1:00 a.m. Tuesday through 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Tropical Storm Edouard has officially developed in the Gulf, and we continue to monitor its progress closely.

RFPD is prepared for this tropical weather should any of it reach us.

Landfall remains expected tomorrow afternoon near the Texas–Louisiana border. As Edouard moves inland toward the northwest, the current forecast track places the center just east of Montgomery County, though our area remains within the cone of uncertainty.

Rainfall:
Heavy rainfall is possible, with 3–5 inches expected across our area. While this system will bring much‑needed rain, flash flooding remains a concern.

Information from Montgomery County Emergency Management:

The low pressure system we have been monitoring for the past few days is now identified as potential tropical cyclone five. Should PTC5 strengthen it will become Tropical Storm Edouard.

At this time we are not expecting any significant impacts from this system.

However we will see our rain chances increase starting late tonight into Wednesday.

A flood watch has been issued for Montgomery County until September 2 at 7:00 A.M.

A few tips to keep in mind:

With limited rainfall these past few weeks the roads will be very slick initially when rainfall commences. Please allow extra spacing and slow down!

The ground is not primed for absorbing the initial rain as it is very hard and excessive rainfall could produce localized flash flooding. Turn around don't drown!

Keep an umbrella handy through Wednesday!
