Hudson Public Library Hudson Public Library Many believe that a Town's library is its heart. Throughout the 20th century, the Hudson Public Library was a faithful, expanding influence for literacy, for dissemination of information, and for the pure joy of reading.

โ€œWhy do I read?
I just can't help myself.
I read to learn and to grow, to laugh
and to be motivated.
I read to understand things I've never
been exposed to.
I read when I'm crabby, when I've just
said monumentally dumb things to the
people I love.
I read for strength to help me when I
feel broken, discouraged, and afraid.
I read when I'm angry at the whole
world.
I read when everything is going right.
I read to find hope.
I read because I'm made up not just of
skin and bones, of sights, feelings,
and a deep need for chocolate, but I'm
also made up of words.
Words describe my thoughts and what's
hidden in my heart.
Words are alive--when I've found a
story that I love, I read it again and
again, like playing a favorite song
over and over.
Reading isn't passive--I enter the
story with the characters, breathe
their air, feel their frustrations,
scream at them to stop when they're
about to do something stupid, cry with
them, laugh with them.
Reading for me, is spending time with a
friend.
A book is a friend.
You can never have too many.โ€

OverDrive for Libraries

We are looking for stories!

We want to hear why you are thankful for your local library and how they have been able to help get you through these past few months. During a time when we have needed them the most, we have seen our library partners continue to reach millions of readers around the world through their services, dedication, and support to their communities during a time of uncertainty.

๐Ÿ“ Share with us why you are thankful for your library or how the library has helped support you/your family during the past few months for a chance to win a Libby mug and a signed copy of 'The Hate U Give' by Angie Thomas.

๐Ÿ“ We will reach out to winners privately for further information.

November is National Novel Writing Month! NaNoWriMo is all about getting your story onto paper (or screen) without worrying about perfection. If you write at least 50,000 words in a story during the month of November, you win!

Many writers, including famous authors, use NaNoWriMo as a way to break writers block or explore a story they've been mulling over. Check out some of these novels that got their start during NaNoWriMo:

* "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen
* "Wool" by Hugh Howey
* "Cinder" by Marissa Meyer
* "Fangirl" by Rainbow Rowell

And for tips on writing, check out these books, available for pickup at the Hudson Public Library!

I miss the staff picks! Any suggestions for a scary/ thriller for October?
What are the return days right now. Last I knew was Monday and sat, until it's full that day.
Lots of fun, educational stuff out there in these times.... Here's one from Mo Willems:
