The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will deploy a statewide Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) focused on impaired driving from 6 p.m. Saturday, June 20, through 6 a.m. Sunday, June 21. To maintain a highly visible enforcement presence, all uniformed CHP personnel statewide, regardless of rank, will conduct traffic enforcement on California roadways.

Alert 🚨

This morning a crash occurred on State Route 86 northbound, north of 50th Ave. As a result of the crash a tractor trailer combination caught fire. Officers are on scene investigating the crash. The roadway was shut down at 50th Ave. Alternate routes include Tyler Street or 50th Ave. to Grapefruit Boulevard.

The CHP is working to reopen the roadway as soon as possible.

CHP Indio had the privilege of attending two events yesterday where our officers provided life saving information about car seat and seatbelt safety. A special thank you to the Desert Recreating District and The La Quinta Boys and Girls Club for hosting us!

This morning, Officer Lopez and Officer Hawkins conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep Grand Cherokee for expired registration. During the stop, they recovered one stolen firearm and two additional unregistered fi****ms.
