It was great spending time with our community at Panda Express in District 3 which borders district 11 to celebrate the return of their fan-favorite Hot Orange Chicken!

A big thank you to Panda Express for hosting such a fun event and to our very own Jags Brian Thomas Jr. for helping bring everyone together. It was great connecting with fans, meeting residents and seeing our community out enjoying a great afternoon.

Events like these are a great reminder of how local businesses and community partners help make Jacksonville such a special place.

Great time aboard the Carnival Cruise Line Elation to celebrate Americas 250th birthday along side all 6 branches of our United States Military!

Our tourism industry is taking off and it’s thanks to companies like Carnival who call Jacksonville home.

Also check out picture 4 and look at that perfect swirl I created! Years of working at McDonalds paid off😎

Tonight, our city won.

Just one week ago, there were questions and uncertainty surrounding the future of the 1 Mill tax extension. I committed to meeting with our community, listening to concerns, and having honest conversations about how this funding impacts our educators, school staff, officers, and students.

Those conversations mattered.

After hearing from our DCPS family, parents, educators, and community stakeholders, I made a commitment to support placing the 1 Mill tax extension referendum on the November ballot so that the people not politicians can decide its future.

I’m proud of my colleagues on City Council. I asked for their support and hoped for a unified vote. While a unanimous outcome was far from certain, tonight we came together and delivered a 15-0 vote to let the voters decide.

This is democracy at work. We listened, we engaged, and we trusted the people.

Now the decision belongs to you.

This November, Jacksonville voters will decide the future of the 1 Mill tax extension.

A productive weekend focused on listening and moving Jacksonville forward.

On Friday, I met with educators, parents, charter school representatives, School Board members, and the DCPS Superintendent to discuss placing the school millage extension on the November ballot giving voters the opportunity to decide its future. Thanks to CM Tyrona Clark-Murray for joining!

On Saturday, I joined residents at Animal Care & Protective Services (ACPS) to continue a conversation we started last fall. Since then, the City Council and ACPS have implemented several improvements, including updates to stray hold policies, website enhancements, and other operational changes.

What stood out most this weekend was seeing people show up in person, engage in meaningful conversations, and make their voices heard. That’s what makes our city special.

Thank you to everyone who participated, shared their perspectives, and continues to stay involved. Together, we’re making Jacksonville stronger.

Congratulations to my two friends on their Council Leadership election victory!

Nick Howland President-elect
Joe Carlucci Vice President-elect

Beyond proud and excited for both of them, I’m looking forward to seeing what great things they accomplish under their leadership🇺🇸

To the rest of my colleagues who ran for leadership today, you all are well deserving of it! I truly love you all on Council.

Honored to join my City Council colleagues, along with Chris Budihas and Randall Thomas at The Block Jax for a panel discussion ahead of Memorial Day week focused on military service and civic leadership in Jacksonville.

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, let us never forget the true meaning behind it… Honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

One interesting fact about this current City Council class: over 40% of us are veterans, with seven members having served in the military. A true reflection of Jacksonville’s strong military community.

Jacksonville just hosted the first ever full distance IRONMAN, one of only nine full distance IRONMAN races in the entire United States!

Nearly 2,000 registered athletes took part in this inaugural event, with Jacksonville’s own Jennifer Sylva taking home first place for the women with an incredible overall time of 9 hours and 42 minutes. Absolutely amazing! 🤩

I also had the opportunity to participate in this historic event and met so many inspiring individuals along the way. One of them is pictured in slide 3 Tyler, also from Jacksonville, who was the youngest athlete to compete in the race!

This single event brought so many great stories to our city. Jacksonville truly came alive this weekend, showcasing our iconic bridges, beautiful riverfront, and brand new parks to a global audience. Events like this continue to show that Jacksonville is growing, evolving, and moving forward as a world-class city.

Congratulations to all the athletes, and thank you to all the volunteers, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office for keeping everyone safe throughout the weekend!

Friday morning, 10AM Town Hall? I’m in🤗

The agenda was simple: open conversation about anything and everything that matters to our community.

Great conversation today with neighbors at Artisan Lakes in Nocatee the southernmost part of District 11.

We covered a lot: Downtown’s future, infrastructure, public safety, and the growing conversation around e-bikes and upcoming state legislation.

I host these every other month, and it’s always great to see more communities getting involved and staying engaged.

Thank you for having me, looking forward to the next one✅

Had a great week connecting with our community. I met with residents from Del Webb Sweetwater and E-Town on back to back days for my District 11 town halls.

We had great conversations covering topics like safety with JSO, homelessness and the PATH team with JFRD, roads and infrastructure with Public Works, parks including Fort Family Park and Deerwood Rotary Children’s Park, and services available for our seniors.

Some people call this work, but I call it connecting with our community. Grateful for the residents and city team members who came out to be part of the conversation.

Looking forward to continuing these meetings throughout the year✨
