83-year-old Mary has one heartfelt wish: to hug her 5-year-old great-granddaughter again. Last year, the little girl and her family moved to Kentucky, leaving Mary heartbroken. Mary helped raise her great-granddaughter when they lived in Massachusetts. Now, she looks forward to seeing her in person and to create new memories together.

Mary has given back to others, including volunteering at a local soup kitchen to help those in need. To make this reunion possible, we need to raise $3,629 to cover airfare for Mary and her travel companion, along with hotel accommodations for a 5-day stay.

Marianne, 85, lives on her own and is home-bound, except for medical appointments. She has chronic pain and has a tough time getting comfortable. Her new lift chair will provide her with a safe, comfortable place to sit and nap, enhancing her quality of life! The Pirate Parrot gave a nursing home resident the surprise of a lifetime for his birthday this week.

Yesterday, Timmy was surprised by a visit from the Pirate Parrot for his birthday, thanks to our Twilight Wish-Allegheny County Chapter! A lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Timmy never misses a game and enjoys sharing Pirates' facts and statistics with fellow residents and staff members. Before becoming a resident at WeCare, he dedicated more than 15 years of volunteering at a food bank and was actively involved in his church choir. Known throughout WeCare for his caring spirit and cheerful personality, Timmy is beloved by both residents and staff which was evident yesterday! Happy birthday, Timmy!

This morning, our Twilight Wish-Allegheny County Chapter made Ivan's day by granting his simple wish for a lift chair! Ivan, 87, has difficulty standing from a seated position so having a lift chair will make his life a bit easier and safer and allow him to remain independent. Darrel has always been someone who serves others. In his younger years, he was a volunteer firefighter with the local department. Even now, when he’s feeling up to it, he continues to lend a hand to elderly neighbors—leaf blowing for them, helping with groceries, and offering support however he can.

Darrel’s Twilight Wish is to get a restful night sleep that he desperately needs as he navigates ongoing health challenges. Lately, he has been dealing with significant discomfort that makes it difficult for him to sleep through the night. After discussing what might help, he realized that having twin beds would ease his pain and greatly improve his comfort. Twin beds would also allow his wife to sleep in the same room with him, giving them both peace of mind and allowing them to be close during this difficult time.

To make this happen, we’re need to raise $2120.00.

At 83 years old, Mary, has one heartfelt wish: to hold her 5-year-old great-granddaughter in her arms again. For years, Mary played a special role in helping raise her great-granddaughter. But last year, she and her family moved to Kentucky, leaving Mary heartbroken by the distance between them.

Despite her age, Mary remains devoted to her family and wishes to visit her great-granddaughter one more time. She has spent much of her life giving back to others, including volunteering at a local soup kitchen to support people in need. Now, she needs our help.

We are seeking to raise $3,629 to cover airfare for Mary and a travel companion, as well as hotel accommodations for a five-day visit in Kentucky. Please donate and help us make her wish come true!
