Another milestone reached! This time, Fire Marshal Brad Tetley celebrates 15 years of service with the Jeffersonville Fire Department.

Brad serves as the Fire Marshal for B Shift, and his duties include everything from conducting building inspections to investigating the origins of structure fires throughout the City of Jeffersonville.

He’s an avid golfer and claims to be the best golfer in the department. We’ll let everyone else decide that one. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, thank you, sir, for your service and dedication to the department and the citizens of Jeffersonville! Congratulations on 15 years!

Early 911 Call and Sprinkler System Help Limit Industrial Fire

Just after 4:00 a.m. on July 24, Jeffersonville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 6000 block of Gheens Mill Road after a vigilant citizen noticed smoke while passing the area and immediately called Clark County 911.

Engine 43 and Jeffersonville Police Department arrived within minutes and reported fire showing from the roof area of an industrial building. Firefighters quickly determined the fire had originated inside the structure before extending into the roof.

A functioning sprinkler system helped contain the fire to the area of origin, allowing firefighters to make an aggressive attack while aerial operations were established. The fire was brought under control within approximately 20 minutes of our arrival.

A thorough search confirmed no one was inside the building, and no injuries were reported.

We would like to thank Jeffersonville Police Department for deploying their thermal imaging drone, providing firefighters with a valuable aerial view of the roof area and assisting crews throughout the incident. We also appreciate the assistance of Heartland EMS and Clark County 911

Finally, thank you to the observant citizen who made the call. Early notification, a working sprinkler system, and a coordinated response helped limit damage and protect property this morning.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Jeffersonville Fire Marshal’s Office.

Today, we welcomed a great group of students and their families to the fire station for a tour and a fire safety discussion.

The group came prepared with lots of great questions and curious minds! During the visit, Truck 42 responded to a few 911 calls, and we appreciate everyone’s patience while our firefighters answered the call to serve.

Week Long Boater Operations Course

Members of the Jeffersonville Fire Department recently completed a week long Boater Operations Course to strengthen their skills and enhance their ability to respond safely and effectively on the water.

Throughout the week, participants received hands on training in boater education, docking, towing, sonar operations, water recovery, and navigation on the Ohio River.

Training alongside neighboring agencies strengthens regional partnerships and ensures we’re prepared to work together when emergencies happen.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this training a success! Special thanks to LMPD for allowing us to use their facilities.

Special shoutout to Harry's Taphouse and Kitchen for taking care of everyone on Wednesday and providing meals after a long day of training on the river!

Today, Battalion Chief Marcus Renn celebrates 20 years of service with the Jeffersonville Fire Department. He is one of three Battalion Chiefs for JFD and serves as the commanding officer of B Shift.
