Jersey City Art & Culture The City of Jersey City's Office of Cultural Affairs celebrates & supports the rich cultural heritage of our City.

OCA is a proponent for the arts in Jersey City, providing opportunities, resources, and education for artists of all disciplines. The Jersey City Art & Studio Tour, formerly the Jersey City Artists Studio Tour, is in its 26th year and is the largest cultural event in Jersey City. The JCAST serves to showcase the talents of Jersey City’s diverse and burgeoning artistic community in mediums that span from paintings to performance with an event weekend packed to the brim with celebrations in every corner of Jersey City. The JCAST attracts thousands of visitors from the tri-state area that tour private studios, galleries, local businesses, and pop-up spaces. Artists are provided the opportunity to introduce their work to the community, make connections, and celebrate the arts.

The Jersey City Columbus Day Parade Committee continues its tradition of celebrating the city’s Italian-American heritage, beginning with the Italian-American Heritage & Cultural Month Flag Raising at City Hall and continuing with the annual parade honoring the community members who keep those traditions alive.

The second annual Jersey City Poetry Festival (JCPOFEST) created a magical environment for the community to come together and share a powerful, moving artistic experience.

On Saturday evening at the Monira Foundation at MANA Contemporary, multidisciplinary artists came together across visual art, music, dance, film, and poetry, creating an immersive celebration of creative expression.

This intergenerational and interdisciplinary festival proudly explores the SYNERGY between language arts, science, philosophy, technology, and all forms of artistic expression.

🎬 Tonight, Jersey City Hall puts sickle cell stories at the center.

No One Fights Alone: A Sickle Cell Journey brings together warriors, parents, medical professionals, legislators, and advocates to share the realities of living with sickle cell disease and the work still needed around awareness, care, and access. Community health organizations including Alliance Community Healthcare and the Sickle Cell Association of NJ are helping amplify the premiere and its message of education and advocacy.

🎭❤️ A story about art, chosen family, and making every moment count takes the stage in Jersey City.

Art House Productions opens RENT tonight as part of its 25th Anniversary Season, bringing Jonathan Larson’s landmark musical to the stage 30 years after its original premiere. The production follows a community of artists in New York’s East Village confronting love, loss, uncertainty, and the AIDS crisis while holding tightly to one another and their creativity.

There’s something especially fitting about RENT marking this milestone for Art House, an organization founded after September 11, 2001 to bring people together through art during a time of profound loss. ❤️

The 49th Annual Children of Faith Celebration begins at City Hall with a Christian Flag Raising & Civic Recognition Ceremony, bringing together families, faith leaders, and community organizations while honoring young people and local leaders for their service. The Children of Faith tradition dates back to 1979 and has grown into a multicultural celebration of fellowship and community.

Flag Raising, families, advocates, and supporters came together to open Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and stand with children and families facing cancer. Copa Maribel’s work extends beyond awareness, helping families manage everyday financial burdens while a loved one undergoes treatment.

This September, we honor Mayor and State Senator Glenn D. Cunningham, Jersey City’s first African American mayor, with two special moments recognizing his life and legacy.

City Council will vote designate September 16 as a Glenn D. Cunningham Day.

Celebrate Glenn’s 83rd Birthday & Glenn D. Cunningham Day at the Glenn D. Cunningham Branch Library, featuring music by the Spirit of Life Ensemble Band and guest speaker Mayor Ras Baraka.
