As we begin another year of supporting Peabody Memorial Library, the Friends of the Library Board would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. Because of our members’ generosity, time, and dedication, the Friends have been able to provide valuable support for library programs, events, and improvements that benefit our entire community.
The Friends of the Library has always been a group built on community spirit and teamwork. Over the past several years, however, a small group of dedicated volunteers has been carrying the majority of the responsibilities for planning, organizing, setting up, running, and cleaning up after our fundraisers and events. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment, but we also recognize that we cannot continue to rely on the same few people for every task. We want to make sure our volunteers feel appreciated and supported—not overwhelmed or burned out. This year, we are asking our members to consider becoming more involved. You do not have to commit to every event or take on a major role. Even a few hours of your time, helping with setup, baking, selling tickets, serving food, donating items, or assisting during an event can make a tremendous difference. Some of the upcoming fundraisers where we need helping hands include: Hot Dog Happy Hour, Raffles, Bake Sales, Crock Pot Supper Fundraiser, Puzzle Palooza, Annual Used Book Sale, End of Summer Celebration, and assist our Librarian with various programs and activities for the community throughout the year.
We are also asking everyone to please renew your Friends of the Library membership for the coming year. The Membership period runs from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Membership dues are an important part of what allows us to continue supporting the library. Whether you are able to volunteer your time, make a financial contribution, or both, your involvement matters.
The Friends of the Library is more than a fundraising group—it is a community of people who believe in the importance of having a strong, welcoming library for everyone. With your help, we can continue to provide support while making sure the work is shared among many hands. If you are willing to volunteer or would like to learn more about how you can help, please reach out to a Friends of the Library Board member. We would love to hear from you and find a way for you to be involved that fits your interests and availability.
We invite you to attend our Annual Meeting on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 6:00 pm at Peabody Memorial Library. After our Annual Meeting, we will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary with a special reception - refreshments will be served. Membership forms for current members have been mailed and includes an RSVP at the bottom. You can also stop by Peabody Memorial Library to pick up a membership form in person during library hours if you would like to join our organization or renew a membership that has lapsed.
