Good luck to everyone in tomorrow's Aukeman Triathlon! There's a sprint triathlon, an Olympic triathlon, and a duathlon. The races start and finish at UAS and feature swimming in Auke Lake and biking to the glacier. What a beautiful and challenging race!

As the annual glacial lake outburst flood approaches, anxiety levels are high. Free sandbags will be available for pickup Saturday at Dimond Park from 11am-3pm, and every Saturday until the flood. You can find information and resources at CBJ's flood response page: https://juneau.org/emergency/emergency-flood-response or by calling CBJ's flood hotline at 907-500-0890. You can also find information and support at the Juneau Flood Fighting Solutions neighborhood group on Facebook.

I'm so grateful for all these efforts and for the active partnerships between community members, Tlingit-Haida, CBJ, federal agencies and scientists. My office is here for you if you need help finding information or support.

Every year since 2011, Juneau, Alaska, has been impacted by a unique type of flood that can only occur near places with glaciers.

The community is invited to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week this Saturday, August 1, 10am-12pm at the Twin Lakes Shelter (by the playground). What state has the highest proportion of military veterans in the U.S? Alaska!
Thursday July 30 is Alaska National Guard Day and Juneau Veterans Appreciation Dinner. This is a wonderful event honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans. To the more than 2,000 military veterans in Juneau, I am deeply grateful for your service.

Did you know? UAS will offer free Alaska Native Language classes this fall. Classes are offered in Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian languages at all levels and are available in person or online. Note that the free classes do not earn credit.

For several years, UAS has offered a Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies. I'm excited about all the opportunities available right here in Juneau, and grateful for the leadership and passion that created these pathways.

Alaskans can get answers on their questions about divorce, housing issues, immigration, inheritance, and more!
