If you live in the South Summit Fire District and just received a "Go" evacuation notice, Summit County sent it in error. There are no pre-evacuation or evacuation notices for SOUTH SUMMIT FIRE DISTRICT.

Please be advised, we will likely be seeing smoke drift in from distant fires both in the state of Utah and out of state. There are no active fires in Summit County at this time.

Drift Smoke Advisory (7/29/26) — Drift smoke from the Widemouth 2 Fire in Utah is present in Summit County. Over the next few days, winds will shift to out of the north, bringing smoke from fires out of state. There are no active fires in Summit County at this time. Only report a fire if you see a defined smoke column or flames.

Summit County Health Department - Utah recommends that sensitive groups consider limiting time outdoors. For real-time air monitoring in Summit County, visit summitcountyhealth.org/outdoor-air.

💜Our hearts are with the families, friends, and fellow firefighters of the three who were killed while fighting wildfires near the Utah-Colorado border.

These firefighters answers the call the protect our communities and our public lands and we honor their dedicate, courage, and sacrifice.

From all of us at South Summit Fire District, we extend our deepest condolences to everyone impacted by this tragedy. We will remember them and honor their service. 💜

Our thoughts and prayers are with the three wildland firefighters who were killed fighting the Knowles and Gore forest near the Utah-Colorado border.

Our hearts go out to their families and loved ones. We hope for the quick recovery of those injured and the safe return of those still fighting all the active fires in the state.🤍

With the upcoming holiday, we ask that everyone do their part to prevent wildfires by not using fireworks. Utah’s wildland crews are working tirelessly and we need to do our part to prevent future fires. 🔥

The deaths occurred as crews battled multiple blazes across a parched region. Two other firefighters were also injured.
